Singing sensation Camilo took home five awards at the Latin American Music Awards 2021, held virtually on Thursday. The 27-year-old Colombian artist won in the categories of Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Male Artist of the Year and Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album.

Background

Born in 1988 in the city of Medellín, Camilo first gained recognition in the music industry after the release of his 2017 debut album, Fuego. The album’s lead single, “Tuyo”, topped the Spanish-language charts in several countries and helped to launch Camilo’s career. Since then, he has released two more studio albums, Por Primera Vez and Mis Manos, which have both been met with critical and commercial success.

Camilo has won numerous awards throughout his career, including two Latin Grammy Awards, seven Billboard Latin Music Awards, and four Premios Juventud Awards. He is also a recipient of the prestigious diamond certification from the Asociación Mexicana de Productores de Fonogramas y Videogramas (AMPROFON).

On April 15, 2021, Camilo was announced as the winner of five awards at the Latin American Music Awards 2021: Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (“El Mismo”), Album of the Year (Mis Manos), Male Artist of the Year, and Tour of the Year (The Tour). This marks Camilo’s first time winning in the Artist of the Year and Tour of the Year categories.

The Colombian singer-songwriter was also named Tropical Artist of the Year and collaborated with Shakira on the song “Tutu”, which won for Collaboration of the Year.

Epic Records recording artist Camilo received five awards at the Latin American Music Awards (LAMA) last night. The show, which aired on Telemundo, was hosted byEva Longoria and Mario Lopez and celebrated the biggest and brightest in Latin music.

The show opened with a performance by Camilo of his hit single “Vida De Rico” joined by reggaeton sensation Anuel AA. He closed the night with an emotional performance of his brand new single “No Te Vayas” which brought the entire audience to its feet.

Camilo was honored with five awards throughout the evening; Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Collaboration of the Year for “Tutu” with Pedro Capó , Favorite Artist – Regional Mexican and Song of the Year for “Vida De Rico”.
