Rock of Ages Musical Comes to Atlanta

The Tony Award-winning musical Rock of Ages is coming to Atlanta! The show will be at the Fox Theatre from July 11-16, 2017.

Rock of Ages is a jukebox musical built around classic rock hits from the 1980s. The show tells the story of a small town girl who moves to Hollywood in search of fame and fortune. Along the way, she meets a boy who loves rock and roll as much as she does, and together they discover that love can conquering all.

The Show

The Music

The Creators

While the show is set in 1987, the music of Rock of Ages is a true love letter to the ’80s, with hits by Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx, Poison and more. The musical tells the story of small-town girl Sherrie and city boy Drew, who meet on Hollywood’s Sunset Strip while pursuing their dreams of stardom. Their rock ‘n’ roll romance is told through the hits of iconic bands.

The show features a book by Chris D’Arienzo, arrangements and orchestrations by Ethan Popp and direction by Kristin Hanggi. Rock of Ages features scenic design by Tony Award nominee Derek McLane, lighting design by Tony Award winner Howell Binkley, costume design by recurringProject Runway designer Wade Laboissonniere and sound design by Los Angeles rock band Berlin.

The History

The musical Rock of Ages was written by Christopher D’Ariano and debuted on Broadway in 2009. The show tells the story of a group of characters who live and work in Hollywood’s Sunset Strip in the 1980s.
