The making of the video
It took several months of planning and preparation, but the final product was worth it. Music video director Serrah Jordan says that the idea for the video came to her in a dream.
“I dreamed that I was walking through a field of tall grass, and as I walked, the grass turned into blue flowers,” she recalls. “Suddenly, I was surrounded by a group of dancers who were all wearing blue dresses. They started dancing around me, and I felt this immense joy come over me.”
When she woke up, she knew that she had to turn her dream into a reality. She reached out to her friend and collaborator Knox White, who is a Nashville-based photographer and videographer. Together, they came up with a treatment for the video that would capture the feeling of Jordan’s dream.
“We wanted to create something ethereal and beautiful, but also something that would make people want to dance,” White says.
To achieve this, they decided to shoot the video in black and white. They also brought in a group of professional dancers to help bring the vision to life.
The result is a stunning music video that perfectly captures the emotions of Jordan’s song “Knoxville Blues.” The video has already been viewed more than half a million times on YouTube, and it’s easy to see why.
