The Soul Train Music Awards are back and better than ever! Check out our recap of the best moments from this year’s show, held in Las Vegas.
The Venue
The Soul Train Music Awards ceremony was held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on November 8, 2009. The Orleans Arena is a large multipurpose venue that is located a few miles from the Las Vegas Strip. The venue has a capacity of 9,500 people and is home to the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL.
The Orleans Arena
The Orleans Arena is a 7,000-seat multi-purpose arena in the Orleans Hotel in Paradise, Nevada. It is located just west of the Las Vegas Strip and is owned and operated by Boyd Gaming. The arena opened in 2003 as a replacement for the now-demolished Las Vegas Centennial Center. It hosts a variety of events, including concerts, basketball games, and boxing matches.
The Host
This year’s Soul Train Music Awards were taped in Las Vegas on November 5th and will air on BET on November 27th. The event, which was held at the Orleans Arena, was hosted by actor and comedian Mike Epps. Epps kept the crowd entertained throughout the night with his hilariously relatable jokes. The host also had the opportunity to present an award during the show.
The Performances
The Soul Train Music Awards are held annually to honor the best in African American music and entertainment. This year’s show was held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on November 5, 2017 and was hosted by actor and comedian, Marlon Wayans. The evening was filled with great performances from some of the biggest names in the industry.
Best R&B Performance
This year’s best R&B performance goes to Marsha Ambrosius for her song “Far Away”! Ambrosius gave an emotional performance of the song, which is dedicated to her late friend and collaborator, singer Aaliyah.
Best Rap Performance
Kendrick Lamar wins Best Rap Performance for “HUMBLE.”
Kendrick Lamar is no stranger to the Soul Train Music Awards — he’s been nominated 17 times and won seven times, including three consecutive wins in the Best Rap Performance category.
This year, he took home the award for “HUMBLE.”, beating out J. Cole, Jay-Z, Migos and Tyler, The Creator.
Lamar has had a huge year, with the release of his fourth studio album “DAMN.”which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was named one of the best albums of 2017 by multiple publications.
Best Gospel Performance
The annual Soul Train Music Awards is a celebration of the best in black music and entertainment. This year, the awards show was held in Las Vegas, and there were some truly amazing performances.
One of the highlights of the show was the gospel performance by Yolanda Adams. Her powerful voice and moving renditions of some classic gospel songs brought the audience to their feet. She was joined on stage by an impressive choir, and together they brought the house down.

The Awards
The best moments of the Soul Train Music Awards in Las Vegas was the award for Best New Artist. The award went to H.E.R. and she delivered an amazing speech. She was so humble and thankful in her speech and it was really touching. Another great moment was when Chance the Rapper won the award for Best Hip Hop Artist.
Best New Artist
Jeremih, Bryson Tiller and Anderson .Paak were the big winners at the Soul Train Awards, held Sunday night at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
Jeremih took home the prize for best new artist, while Bryson Tiller won best R&B/soul male artist and Anderson .Paak won best R&B/soul album for “Malibu.”
Best R&B Album
This award is given to the recording artist(s) for the album with the best overall performance on the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

The After-Party
You won’t want to miss the Soul Train Music Awards in Las Vegas this year. The event will be held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on November 17, 2019. The awards show will be hosted by Erykah Badu and features performances by Cardi B, Lil Nas X, Lizzo, and many more. But the real party starts after the show.
The Official After-Party
The official After-Party for the Soul Train Music Awards will be held at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Friday, November 8th. The event will feature a live performance by Grammy-winning R&B artist Ne-Yo, as well as a DJ set by three-time Grammy nominee DJ Khaled. There will also be a special guest performance by singer-songwriter Eric Bellinger.
The Unofficial After-Parties
While the Soul Train Music Awards weekend is mostly about the award show itself, there are always a few unofficial after-parties that pop up around Las Vegas. These parties are usually hosted by artists or celebrities who are in town for the awards show, and they’re a great way to see some of your favorite performers in a more intimate setting. Here are a few of the best after-parties from this year’s Soul Train Music Awards:
-The Official After-Party at Drai’s Nightclub: This party was hosted bynone other than Snoop Dogg himself, and it featured performances by Lil Kim, Too $hort, and Warren G. If you’re a fan of West Coast rap, this was the party for you.
-The Unofficial After-Party at the Sayers Club: This party was hosted by T-Pain and featured performances by Jeremih, Miguel, and Khalid. If you’re looking for some R&B vibes, this was the place to be.
-The Unofficial After-Party at On The Record: This party was hosted by several different celebrities, including Usher, Jermaine Dupri, and Diddy. If you’re a fan of hip hop and R&B, this is the party for you.
