Best R&B/Soul Male Artist

Fantasia won the award for Best R&B/Soul Male Artist at the 2012 Soul Train Music Awards, which were held on Sunday (November 25) in Las Vegas.

The singer was up against some stiff competition in the form of Usher, Trey Songz, Chris Brown and Tank, but he came out on top in what was undoubtedly a very tough category.

It’s been quite a year for Fantasia, who released his third studio album ‘Side Effects of You’ back in May. The record debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart and has since been certified gold by the RIAA.

Fantasia’s latest single ‘Lose to Win’ is currently sitting at number one on the US Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart, giving him his fourth chart-topping hit.

Best New Artist

Fantasia won the award for Best New Artist at the 2012 Soul Train Music Awards. This is a huge accomplishment for the young singer, who has only been in the music business for a few years. Fantasia’s debut album, “Free Yourself,” was released in 2004 and was a huge success, selling over three million copies.

Song of the Year

Fantasia won the coveted Song of the Year award for her song “Bittersweet” at the 2012 Soul Train Music Awards. The award is given to the artist who wrote and performed the best song of the year. Fantasia’s “Bittersweet” was released in 2011 and was a huge hit, reaching number one on the Billboard R&B charts.

Album of the Year

Fantasia took home the prize for Album of the Year at the 2012 Soul Train Music Awards, beating out Sharaya J, Tank and the Bangas, Toni Braxton, and Amber Mark. Fantasia’s album “The Definition Of…” was released in 2016 to critical acclaim, and it is clear that the Soul Train Music Awards judges felt that it was a standout release in a strong year for R&B.

Best R&B/Soul or Rap New Artist

Fantasia won the award for Best R&B/Soul or Rap New Artist at the 2012 Soul Train Music Awards. She beat out some stiff competition, including Miguel, Frank Ocean, and Meek Mill. This is a huge win for Fantasia, and it cements her place as one of the most promising new artists in the R&B/soul and rap genres.

Best Collaboration

Fantasia took home the award for Best Collaboration at the 2012 Soul Train Music Awards. The singer was nominated for her work on the song “Without Me” with Kelly Rowland and Missy Elliott.

The Centric Award

The Centric Award is an award presented at the Soul Train Music Awards. The award was first presented in 2009. It is given to an artist who has shown exceptional musical talent and has had a major impact on R&B and soul music.

Fantasia won the award for her album, Side Effects of You. She was up against some stiff competition, including Beyoncé, TLC, and Miguel. Fantasia’s win marks the first time that an artist has won the award more than once.

Best Dance Performance

Fantasia took home the award for Best Dance Performance for her high-energy, soulful dance routine to “Lose to Win” at the 2012 Soul Train Music Awards. The performance was one of the highlights of the night, and Fantasia’s win was well-deserved.

Best Gospel Performance

Fantasia took home the award for Best Gospel Performance for her song “God Allows U-Turns” at the 2012 Soul Train Music Awards. The annual awards show, which celebrates African-American music and culture, was held on November 25 in Las Vegas.

Fantasia was up against some stiff competition in the category, including Tamela Mann, Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, and Fred Hammond. But it was her heartfelt performance of “God Allows U-Turns” that won over the judges and earned her the prestigious award.

“God Allows U-Turns” is taken from Fantasia’s album of the same name, which was released in March of this year. The album was a return to her gospel roots after a few years of experimenting with other genres of music. It debuted at number one on the Billboard gospel chart and has been praised by critics and fans alike.

This is the second time Fantasia has won a Soul Train Music Award; she previously took home the trophy for Best R&B/Soul Album in 2010.

Best Independent Performance

Fantasia won the award for Best Independent Performance for her song “Even If,” making her the only artist to win in that category more than once.

Conclusion

Fantasia won a total of four awards at the 2012 Soul Train Music Awards, making her the big winner of the night. She took home awards for Best R&B/Soul Album, Best R&B/Soul Female Artist, Best Dance Performance, and the Song of the Year award for her hit single “Collard Greens & Cornbread.”
