Best Techno Music of 2015

It’s no secret that techno music has been on the rise in recent years. With the popularity of shows like Stranger Things and Black Mirror, techno music has found a place in the mainstream. If you’re looking for the best techno music of 2015, you’ve come to the right place. In this article, we’ll be counting down the best techno tracks of the year.

Jamie xx – In Colour

One of the most celebrated aspects of In Colour is how well it deftly weaves together various strains of electronic music, from house and garage to dubstep and jungle. This shouldn’t come as a surprise: Jamie xx, born Jamie Smith, spent his formative years as a key member of the Mercury Prize-winning group the xx, whose intimate indie-soul was similarly constructed from disparate elements. Jamie xx’s solo debut album is designed for clubs, but it’s also his most personal work to date.

Jack Ü – Skrillex and Diplo Present Jack Ü

This album was one of the most talked about and well-received techno albums of 2015. Jack Ü is a collaboration between two of the biggest names in the genre, Skrillex and Diplo, and it does not disappoint. The album features a mix of fast-paced club tracks and slower, more atmospheric pieces, all of which are incredibly well-produced and perfect for dancing.

Disclosure – Caracal

This album is full of summery club anthems that are perfect for getting the party started. From the opener, “Nocturnal,” to the Disclosure classic “Latch,” featuring Sam Smith, this album is sure to get your feet moving.

The Chemical Brothers – Born in the Echoes

The Chemical Brothers are back with their eighth studio album, Born in the Echoes. The album was released in July 2015 and features the singles “Sometimes I Feel So Deserted”, “Go”, and “Under Neon Lights”. Born in the Echoes is a return to form for the duo, who were one of the leading lights of the UK rave scene in the early 1990s. The album is a mix of club-ready tracks and more introspective moments, and it showcases the duo’s skills as songwriters as well as producers.

Four Tet – Morning/Evening

Kieran Hebden, best known by his stage name Four Tet, is an English musician. Hebden first came to prominence as a member of the post-rock band Fridge before establishing himself as a solo artist.

Hebden has released nine studio albums as Four Tet, his latest being Morning/Evening (2015). “Morning/Evening” is the first album by Kieran Hebden under his main recording alias of Four Tet, released on 20 July 2015 by Text Records. The album was announced on Hebden’s Twitter account on 6 July 2015, and was made available for streaming on iTunes Radio and Spotify on the same day. The album artwork features a photograph of Hebden’s daughter Lyra wearing an outfit made out of cut-up fringes of a black sweater.

The album was nominated for the 2015 Mercury Prize.
