Now in its 28th year, the Billboard Latin Music Awards is the longest-running and most prestigious awards show honoring the best in Latin music. The 2017 Billboard Latin Music Awards will take place on Thursday, April 27 at the Venetian Las Vegas.

The show will air live on Telemundo at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT and will be preceded by a one-hour red-carpet pre-show at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT. The 2017 Billboard Latin Music Awards were handed out Thursday night (April 27) at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, and some of Latin music’s biggest names went home with trophies. The awards show, which was hosted by comedian Mario Cantone, included performances by Ricky Martin, J Balvin, Farruko, Ozuna and more.

Latin Pop Album of the Year

The Latin Pop Album of the Year is an award that was first presented by Billboard at the 1st Annual Billboard Latin Music Awards show which took place on February 23, 1994. It is given annually by Billboard magazine as part of its Billboard Latin Music Awards to recognise the most successful Latin pop album of the year. According to Billboard, the award is “the highest honour given to a projecting artist who releases a pop album in Spanish or Portuguese.” It has been presented every year since 1994 with Ricky Martin and Shakira being the most awarded performers in this category with three wins each. In 2014, Shakira became the first female artist to receive this award for two consecutive years for her self-titled tenth studio album and El Dorado both released in 2017.

Regional Mexican Album of the Year

The Regional Mexican Album of the Year is an award presented at the 2017 Billboard Latin Music Awards. The award is given to the performer(s) of the best-selling Regional Mexican album of the year. The award is based on sales data compiled by Nielsen SoundScan and published weekly by Billboard magazine.

This year’s winner was Polo G for his album “Drogas Wave”.
