The 2021 Soul Train Music Awards were held on November 28, 2020 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. This year’s winners included H.E.R., Megan Thee Stallion, and Doja Cat.

Best New Artist

The 2021 Soul Train Music Awards were held on November 28, 2020, at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The show was hosted by Tia Mowry and Tamera Mowry. The nominees for Best New Artist were Jhené Aiko, Ari Lennox, Lucky Daye, Megan Thee Stallion, and Roddy Ricch. The winner was Megan Thee Stallion.

Doja Cat

American singer and rapper Doja Cat has been announced as the winner of the Best New Artist award at the 2021 Soul Train Music Awards.

The awards ceremony, which is due to take place on 28th February, will recognise the best in R&B, soul and hip-hop music from the past year.

Doja Cat’s breakout hit ‘Say So’ propelled her to global stardom in 2020, and she is also known for her viral song ‘Mooo!’, which became a meme sensation.

Other nominees in the Best New Artist category included Giveon, Megan Thee Stallion, Summer Walker and YBN Cordae.

Roddy Ricch

Roddy Ricch, an American rapper, singer, and songwriter, was awarded the 2021 Soul Train Music Award for Best New Artist. Ricch’s debut studio album Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial was released in December 2019 and peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200. His single “The Box” topped the US Billboard Hot 100 in January 2020.

Megan Thee Stallion

The 2021 Soul Train Music Awards took place on Sunday, November 29, at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The show, which was hosted by Amanda Seales, featured performances by Snoop Dogg, Ella Mai, Charlie Wilson, PJ Morton, CJ Washington Jr., and more. Megan Thee Stallion won the award for Best New Artist.

Song of the Year

This year’s Song of the Year goes to Lizzo for her hit single, “Truth Hurts.” Lizzo’s song is an empowering anthem for anyone who’s ever been hurt by a love. It’s a song that resonates with people of all ages and backgrounds, and it’s one of the most popular songs of the year.

“The Box” – Roddy Ricch

Roddy Ricch’s “The Box” has won the coveted Song of the Year prize at the 2021 Soul Train Music Awards.

“The Box” was a runaway success when it was released in January 2020, spending 11 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The track also earned Ricch a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance.

Accepting his award via video, Ricch thanked God, his team, and his fans for their support. He also dedicated the award to late rapper Nipsey Hussle, who was a strong supporter of Ricch’s music.

This is the second consecutive year that a song by a rapper has won the Soul Train Song of the Year prize; last year, Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” took home the honor.

“Savage” – Megan Thee Stallion feat. Beyoncé

The award for Song of the Year goes to Megan Thee Stallion featuring Beyoncé for their hit, “Savage.” This song was a viral sensation and quickly rose to the top of the charts, where it stayed for weeks. It was also nominated for Record of the Year at the Grammy Awards.

“Rockstar” – DaBaby feat. Roddy Ricch

DaBaby and Roddy Ricch’s “Rockstar” was named Song of the Year at the 2021 Soul Train Music Awards. The track, which spent seven weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart, was also nominated for Record of the Year, but lost out to Megan Thee Stallion’s “Body.”

Album/Mixtape of the Year

The Soul Train Music Awards is an annual music awards show that honors the best in Black music. This year’s Album/Mixtape of the Year goes to J. Cole for “KOD.”

“Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial” – Roddy Ricch

please excuse me for being antisocial is the debut studio album by American rapper and singer Roddy Ricch, released on December 6, 2019, through Atlantic Records. It features the singles “The Box” and “High Fashion”, the latter featuring guest vocals from Mustard. The album won Album of the Year at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.

“Good News” – Megan Thee Stallion

Out of all the great music that came out in 2020, “Good News” by Megan Thee Stallion was the best of the best. This album has it all – great beats, amazing lyrics, and catchy hooks. It’s no wonder that it won the 2021 Soul Train Music Award for Album/Mixtape of the Year.

If you’re looking for a feel-good album to help you get through tough times, look no further than “Good News.” From start to finish, Megan Thee Stallion brings the heat and delivers one of the best albums of 2020.

“My Turn” – Lil Baby

“My Turn” is the second studio album by American rapper Lil Baby, released on February 28, 2020, through Quality Control Music and Wolfpack Global Music. It follows his collaboration album Harder Than Ever (2018), and his debut solo album Too Hard (2017). The album features guest appearances from Quavo, Offset, 42 Dugg, Rylo Rodriguez, Lil Uzi Vert and Young Thug. My Turn was supported by seven singles: “Sum 2 Prove”, “We Paid”, “Humble”, “Commercial”, “Heatin’ Up” featuring Gunna, which peaked at number 60 on the Billboard Hot 100, “Woah” and “Emotionally Scarred”.

Record of the Year

The Record of the Year 2021 Soul Train Music Award goes to “No One” by Alicia Keys. “No One” is a song by Alicia Keys from her album As I Am. The song won the 2008 Grammy Award for Song of the Year and was nominated for the 2008 Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.

“The Box” – Roddy Ricch

Roddy Ricch’s “The Box” is a massive hit, and it has now won the coveted title of Record of the Year at the 2021 Soul Train Music Awards. The awards were handed out on Sunday (March 28) during a virtual ceremony that was hosted by Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell.

“The Box” beat out stiff competition from the likes of Beyonce’s “Black Parade,” Megan Thee Stallion’s “Body,” Summer Walker’s “Playing Games,” and Jabari Manwa’s “Put It All On Me.”

Ricch was also nominated for Album of the Year for his debut album, Please Excuse Me For Being antisocial, but lost out to Jhené Aiko’s CHILOMBO.

“Savage” – Megan Thee Stallion feat. Beyoncé

The annual Soul Train Music Awards is an awards show that honors the best in African American music and entertainment. It is produced by the Soul Train Music Foundation and airs annually on BET.

This year, the award for Record of the Year went to Megan Thee Stallion and Beyoncé for their collaboration, “Savage.” The song is a remix of Megan’s hit single “Savage” and features Beyoncé on guest vocals.

Other nominees in this category included Doja Cat, Roddy Ricch, Summer Walker, and Usher.

“Rockstar” – DaBaby feat. Roddy Ricch

The big winner of the night was DaBaby, who took home four awards, including Song of the Year for “Rockstar” featuring Roddy Ricch. Other winners included Megan Thee Stallion, who won Best New Artist, and Beyoncé, who won both the Lady Soul award and the Legend award.

Best Dance Performance

This year’s Soul Train Music Awards were a celebration of the best in black music and culture. The awards ceremony was hosted by actor and comedian Tiffany Haddish and featured performances by some of the biggest names in the music industry. The night’s big winner was Beyoncé, who took home the award for Best Dance Performance for her song “Formation.”

“Toosie Slide” – Drake

The 2021 Soul Train Music Awards were held on Sunday, March 28, at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The show celebrates the best in soul, R&B, hip-hop, and dance, and this year’s list of nominees was stacked with huge stars.

Drake took home the award for Best Dance Performance for his viral hit “Toosie Slide.” The Toronto rapper thanked his team in his acceptance speech and gave a shoutout to Toosie, the creator of the dance that accompanies the song.

“Toosie Slide” was released in March 2020 and quickly became one of Drake’s biggest hits. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for nine weeks and has been Certified Platinum by the RIAA.

“Say So” – Doja Cat

The 2021 Soul Train Music Awards took place on Sunday, November 29th. The event, which was hosted by Niecy Nash, was held virtually for the first time ever due to the ongoing pandemic.

The show featured performances from some of the biggest names in music, including Justin Bieber, Chloe x Halle, Alicia Keys, Doja Cat, and many more.

At the end of the night, it was Doja Cat’s performance of her hit song “Say So” that took home the award for Best Dance Performance. The award is a testament to both Doja Cat’s incredible dancing abilities and the popularity of her breakout single.

“Temperature” – Sean Paul

On November 29th, 2020, Sean Paul dance to his song “Temperature” at the 2021 Soul Train Music Awards. Wearing a black tank top and black pants with fire print, he started the performance in a smoky room with red lights. Towards the end of the performance, he was joined by two female dancers and they all performed a choreographed routine together.

This performance won the award for “Best Dance Performance” at the 2021 Soul Train Music Awards.
