Pearl Jam

Alice in Chains

Alice in Chains is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1987 by guitarist and songwriter Jerry Cantrell and original lead vocalist Layne Staley. The initial lineup was rounded out by drummer Sean Kinney and bassist Mike Starr, who was replaced in 1993 by Mike Inez. Although widely associated with grunge music, the band’s sound incorporates heavy metal elements. Since its formation, Alice in Chains has released six studio albums and three EPs, and has been cited as one of the influential bands of the 1990s.

Nirvana

Nirvana was an American rock band formed in Aberdeen, Washington, in 1987. It was founded by singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic. Nirvana went through a succession of drummers, the longest-lasting being Dave Grohl, who joined the band in 1990. Though never commercially successful while they were together, Nirvana has come to be regarded as one of the most influential and important rock bands of the modern era.

Matt Cameron became the band’s full-time drummer in 1986. Soundgarden was one of the seminal creators of grunge music and is credited as one of the main architects of the genre. The band achieved success in the early 1990s with their breakthrough album, Badmotorfinger (1991), and their fourth studio album, Superunknown (1994), which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and won two Grammy Awards for singles “Spoonman” and “Black Hole Sun”.

Alice in Chains

Alice in Chains is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1987 by guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell and drummer Sean Kinney, who then recruited bassist Mike Starr and lead vocalist Layne Staley. Starr was replaced by Mike Inez in 1993. William DuVall joined the band in 2006 as co-lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, replacing Staley, who died in 2002.The band took its name from Staley’s previous group, the glam metal band Alice N’ Chains.

Despite its unsigned status, the band’s first album, Facelift (1990), was a commercial success. It was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and has been credited with helping revitalize interest in heavy metal music in the United States.[1] The success of the album led to Alice in Chains touring as an opening act for Van Halen and Incubus.[2] In 1992, Alice in Chains released its second album, Dirt. The critically acclaimed release garnered the band four Grammy nominations,[3] including Best Hard Rock Performance for “Would?”.[4] Dirt has been certified quadruple-platinum by the RIAA[5] and gone on to sell five million copies worldwide,[6][7][8] making it Alice in Chain’s most successful album to date
