From February 14-18, more than 2,500 folk musicians, fans, and industry professionals will gather in Kansas City for the Folk Alliance International Conference. This will be the 32nd year for the conference, which is being hosted at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center.

Concerts

Concerts will be held indoors at the Folly Theater and outdoors in the Westport neighborhood. All concerts are free and open to the public.

Thursday, April 12

Kansas City’s own Benjamin Cleaves will open the festival with a special concert featuring his new album, “Paradise”. His music has been described as “pure Americana” with a “unique brand of soulful singer/songwriter folk guitar”.

Friday, April 13

Westport/Roanoke Park Area
The headliner for Friday night is nationally-acclaimed artist violation fiddler Darol Anger. Anger has been a pioneer in the American acoustic music scene for over four decades and has performed or recorded with David Grisman, Jerry Douglas, Vassar Clements, Tony Rice, and many others. He will be joined by mandolinist Joe K. Walsh, one of the most dynamic new voices in acoustic music. The two will be performing music from their new album “Generations”.

Saturday, April 14

The day will start with a special kids’ concert featuring Young Sounds of Kansas City at noon followed by performances from some of the best up-and-coming acts in the Midwest including The self-proclaimed “Queen ofKansas City folk music” Carrie McFerrin and her band Union Station , jazz/blues duo Lee McBee and The Confessors , country rockers The Empty Pockets , and many more!

Sunday, April 15

On Sunday, the festival will feature performances from some of Kansas City’s most beloved local acts including Nace Brothers Band , Eveining Bluegrass Gospel Hour with Uncle Earl Scruggs Revue , Jeff Harrison & Friends , Celtic band Boreas , old time duo Bella vault Stringband , fiddler Anna Wallace-Browne and her band Crow Jessica Paige (of Woodstock fame) .
