Winners
The 2013 Folk Music Awards were held on Saturday, November 9th at the University of New Hampshire in Durham. The annual awards are given out by the Folk Music Society of New Hampshire to recognize the accomplishments of folk musicians in the state. This year’s winners are:
Album of the Year
The Album of the Year award goes to …
Artist of the Year
The 2013 Folk Music Award for Artist of the Year has been awarded to Mary Gauthier.
Gauthier is a singer-songwriter who has been active in the music industry since the early 1990s. She has released eight studio albums, and her most recent, Merciperci, was released in 2012.
Gauthier has won numerous awards for her music, including the Americana Music Association Award for Song of the Year and Folk Alliance International Artist of the Year.
Song of the Year
The song of the year award went to “The Wayfaring Stranger” by The Duhks. This haunting ballad has been a favorite of folk fans for many years, and its selection as song of the year is a testament to its enduring popularity.
