The Latin Music Awards is an annual awards show that celebrates the best in Latin music. The show is produced by Telemundo and airs live on the network. This year’s show will be held on April 27, 2022 at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida.
History of the Latin Music Awards
The Latin Music Awards were created in 2002 by the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences to recognize the most popular albums, songs and performers in Latin music. The Awards are based on sales figures from Nielsen SoundScan and radio airplay from Mediabase.
The first Latin Music Awards were held in 2003 and broadcast live on Univision. The show was hosted by Mexican-American comedian George Lopez and featured performances by Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin, Shakira, Marc Anthony and Luis Miguel, among others.
In 2004, the Awards were moved to Miami Beach and continued to be broadcast live on Univision. The show was hosted by Cuban-American actor/director Andy Garcia and featured performances by Sofia Vergara, Daddy Yankee, Juanes, Gloria Estefan and Carlos Santana, among others.
In 2005, the Awards were held in Los Angeles and broadcast live on Univision. The show was hosted by American actress Eva Longoria and featured performances by Pitbull, Paulina Rubio, Shakira, Ricky Martin and Romeo Santos, among others.
Since 2006, the Latin Music Awards have been held annually in Las Vegas and broadcast live on Telemundo. The show is usually held in March or April and features performances by some of the biggest names in Latin music.
2022 Latin Music Awards to Be Held Live
The 2022 Latin Music Awards are scheduled to be held live on April 20, 2022. This will be the first time in three years that the show will be held live. The last time the Latin Music Awards were held live was in 2019.

The 22nd annual Latin Grammy Awards will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The show will air live on the Univision network at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. CT).
