“El Nino Sin Amor” by Soda Stereo
Soda Stereo was one of the most influential Latin rock bands of the 1980s and early 1990s. They were formed in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1982 by lead singer and guitarist Gustavo Cerati, bassist Zeta Bosio, and drummer Charly Alberti. The band released their debut album “MTV Unplugged” in 1985 and their final album “Comfort y Musica Para Volar” in 1997. They disbanded shortly after Cerati suffered a stroke in 2010.
Their 1992 album “El Nino Sin Amor” (The Child Without Love) is considered by many to be their masterpiece. The album is a concept album about a young boy who is lost and alone in the world. The songs are heavily influenced by Pink Floyd and other progressive rock bands of the time. “El Nino Sin Amor” is a beautiful and moving work of art that deserves to be heard by everyone.
“Reves/Yo Soy Disc 2” by Gustavo Cerati
Reves/Yo Soy Disc 2 is an album by Argentine singer-songwriter Gustavo Cerati, released in 2001. The double album is a compilation of live performances and studio recordings from Cerati’s 1999–2000 “Reves/Yo Soy” world tour, which saw the musician perform in front of over two million people across Latin America.
The live album features seventeen tracks, including renditions of well-known songs such as “Fuera de Serie” and “Cosas Impresionantes”, as well as lesser-known tracks such as “El Ritmo No Perdona” and “Ruta 35”. The studio recordings include alternate versions of some of the live tracks, as well as new songs such as “Te llevo para que me lleves” and “Tu locura”.
Reves/Yo Soy Disc 2 was a commercial and critical success, debuting at number one on the Argentinean albums chart and being certified double platinum by the Argentine Recording Industry Association. In 2002, the album won a Latin Grammy Award for Best Rock Solo Vocal Album.
“El Dorado” by Mana
Mana is a Mexican rock band formed in Guadalajara, Jalisco in 1986. The group’s music is a fusion of Latin, rock, and pop. They have sold over 50 million albums worldwide, making them one of the best-selling Latin rock bands of all time.
Their thirteenth studio album, “El Dorado”, was released in May of 2017. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard Latin Albums chart, becoming the band’s sixth album to do so. “El Dorado” was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album.
