Metallica- “Hardwired”
“Hardwired” is the lead single from Metallica’s upcoming album Hardwired… to Self-Destruct, due out on November 18, 2016. It is their first album in eight years, following 2008’s Death Magnetic. The song was released to radio on August 18th, 2016 and digital retailers on September 5th.
The song was produced by Greg Fidelman, who also helmed Death Magnetic. In an interview with Rolling Stone, guitarist Kirk Hammett spoke about the song’s sound: “This song definitely has the Metallica sound – it wouldn’t have sounded out of place on …And Justice for All or Master of Puppets.” He also said that it was one of the first songs written for the album.
“Hardwired” received positive reviews from music critics. Chris Conaton of PopMatters called it “a return to form”, while praising its riffage and describings its themes as “typical Metallica”. AllMusic’s James Christopher Monger noted its “thrashy ferocity”.
Megadeth- “Dystopia”
Formed in 1983, Megadeth is considered one of the pioneers of the American thrash metal scene. The band has released fifteen studio albums, and their most recent release is 2016’s “Dystopia.” “Dystopia” is a concept album that explores the dark side of human nature, and it features the singles “The Threat Is Real” and “Dystopia.”
Slayer- “Repentless”
Slayer’s highly anticipated return with their first album in six years, “Repentless,” finds the metal legends in top form, pummeling through 11 tracks of furious, shredding thrash metal. It’s a fitting return for a band that has always been at the forefront of the metal genre, and “Repentless” is sure to please both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
Anthrax- “For All Kings”
Anthrax is an American heavy metal band from New York City, formed in 1981 by rhythm guitarist Scott Ian and bassist Frank Bello. The group was considered one of the leaders of the thrash metal scene during the 1980s and is one of the “Big Four” thrash metal bands with Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer; Anthrax is the only band to have all members of the “Big Four” as active members during its peak.
