The Band’s classic lineup consisted of Robbie Robertson (guitar, piano, drums), Levon Helm (drums, mandolin, guitar, vocals), Rick Danko (bass guitar, double bass, fiddle, vocals), Garth Hudson (keyboards, saxophones) and Richard Manuel (piano , drums , vocals).
The Band is best known for its work with Bob Dylan in the late 1960s and early 1970s and for its own hits such as “The Weight”, “Up on Cripple Creek”, and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down”. It has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Rolling Stone ranked them No. 50 on their list of the 100 greatest artists of all time in 2004 and No. 45 in 2011.
