During the 1980s glam metal became popular with hair bands such as Mötley Crüe and Poison creating hits that spanned radio playlists across the country.[9] In the mid-1980s Thrash Metal took over as the most popular form of Heavy Metal with artists such as Metallica leading the charge.[10][11][12][13][14][15] Death metal developed in Europe during this time starting with Possessed’s Seven Churches (1985)[16] released by Combat Records and My Dying Bride’s As The Flower Withers (1992).[17][18]”
