It was released to radio on 21 February 2017 as the fourth single from Urban’s ninth studio album, Ripcord. The song peaked at number two on the US Billboard Country Airplay chart and number five on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Underwood first announced the song’s impending release on her Twitter account on 17 February 2017, posting a photo of the single’s artwork with the caption “#TheFighter out Friday!!!!”.
