Dave Koz is an American smooth jazz saxophonist. He was born on March 27, 1963, in Encino, California. Koz studied at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He began his career in the 1980s as part of Bobby Caldwell’s band and later worked with Jeff Lorber. In 1988, he released his debut album, Dave Koz, which featured the hit single “You Make Me Smile”.
Koz has released 20 albums, including three collaborative albums with singer-songwriter Buddy Guy and trumpeter Rick Braun. His most recent album is Collage (2017). He has also appeared on television shows such as The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Dancing with the Stars.

Dave Koz is an American smooth jazz saxophonist. He was born in 1963 in Encino, California, and began playing professionally at age 21. Koz is a nine-time Grammy Award nominee, and he has won six ASCAP Songwriter awards. In 1990, Koz founded Capital Records’ label “Nightowl”, which signed artists including Richard Elliot, Gregg Karukas, Gerald Albright, and Brian Hughes. He has released twenty albums, the most recent being “A New Day” in 2018.
One of Koz’s earliest professional gigs was as a member of Bobby Caldwell’s band for the singer’s “What You Won’t Do for Love” tour in 1988. He toured with Jeff Lorber Fusion in 1989-1990. In 1993 he was a member of Larry Carlton’s band for the guitarist’s “Live in Tokyo” album and tour. Other notable people he has toured with include Michael McDonald, Steven Curtis Chapman, Gladys Knight, Natalie Cole, Ray Charles and Al Jarreau.
In May 2009 Dave Koz and Friends Summer Horns tour was launched featuring Baritone Saxophonist Gerald Albright as well as Rod Stewart’s Horn section Ace Young & Ray Herrmann on Trumpet & Trombone respectively along with Jeff Kashiwa on Tenor Saxophone & Marc Russo on Alto Saxophone. The tour was a huge success playing to large crowds across America

Grover Washington Jr. was an American saxophonist and composer. He is considered to be one of the greatest saxophonists of all time. He was born on December 12, 1943, in Buffalo, New York. Washington began playing the saxophone when he was just eight years old. He became one of the most popular musicians of his generation, releasing a string of hits throughout the 1970s and 1980s. His best-known songs include “Mister Magic”, “The Best is Yet to Come”, and “Just the Two of Us”. Washington died on December 17, 1999, at the age of 56.
