The current conductor of the Pops is John Morris Russell. He was appointed to the position in 2011 after serving as associate conductor of the BSO from 2006-2011 and music director of the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra from 2002-2006. Russell made his conducting debut with the Pops in 2010.
