January 2018

As the new year gets underway, it’s time to start getting excited about all the new music that’s on the horizon. Here are some of the most anticipated hip hop releases coming our way in 2018.

January

– Kendrick Lamar: Kendrick is kicking off the year with a bang, as he is set to release his highly anticipated third album on January 5th. The lead single, “Humble,” has already been met with critical acclaim and is sure to get everyone hyped for what’s to come.

– J Cole: Cole is also dropping his third album in early 2018, and fans are eagerly awaiting its release. The first single, “Deja Vu,” was released in December and has fans wondering what else he has in store for us.

– Lil Wayne: Lil Wayne will be releaseing his long-awaited album Carter V this year, and it is sure to be a hit. With singles like “A Milli” and “Lollipop,” Wayne proved that he’s still got what it takes to make great music, and we can’t wait to see what else he has in store for us.

February 2018

April 2018

-Pusha T – Daytona
One of the most highly anticipated albums of the year, Pusha T’s Daytona was originally supposed to be released in March but was pushed back due to sample clearance issues. The album, which is produced entirely by Kanye West, features seven tracks and includes guest appearances from Rick Ross and GTA 5 protagonist Franklin Clinton. This one is sure to be a banger from start to finish.

May 11
-ASAP Rocky – Testing
ASAP Rocky’s third studio album is one of the most anticipated hip hop releases of the year. The album features 15 tracks with guest appearances from Frank Ocean, Kid Cudi, Moby, and Skepta. Rocky has been tight-lipped about the album’s direction but has said that it will be “sonically cohesive” and feature a mix of both old and new sounds. We can’t wait to hear it!

May 18
-Drake – Thank Me Later (Anniversary Edition)
It’s been seven years since Drake released his debut studio album Thank Me Later. To commemorate the anniversary, Drake is re-releasing the album on streaming services with four previously unreleased tracks. The songs “Can I?,” “Celebrate,” “Thank Me Now,” and “I Get Lonely Too” will be included on the updated version of the album. If you’re a fan of Drake’s early work, this is a must-listen!

June 2018

This month’s hip hop and R&B music releases include albums from some of the biggest names in the genre, including Nas, J. Cole, and Tee Grizzley. Tee Grizzley’s debut studio album is scheduled to be released this month. The album includes the singles “From the D to the A” featuring Lil Yachty and “First Day Out”. It will be Tee Grizzley’s first full-length project since his breakout mixtape My Moment in 2017.

Lil Baby – Harder Than Ever
Lil Baby is back with a new mixtape this month called Harder Than Ever. The project includes the single “Yes Indeed” featuring Drake. It will be Lil Baby’s third mixtape of 2018, following February’s Too Hard and April’s Perfect Timing with Migos member offset.

Ty Dolla $ign – Beach House 3
Ty Dolla $ign is releasing his long-awaited third studio album Beach House 3 this month. The project includes the singles ” Campaign” featuring Future and “Drippin (How U Luv That)” featuring Wiz Khalifa. This will be Ty Dolla $ign’s first solo album since 2015’s Free TC..

The Atlanta trio is back with another banger, this time titled “Narcos”. The track, which was produced by Pharrell Williams, is a nod to the Netflix show of the same name. It’s a catchy, trap-influenced song that will have you hooked from the first listen.

Tyler, the Creator – “BOOGIE66”

October 2018

Kanye West – Yhandi
Kanye West’s ninth studio album was originally slated for release in September, but was delayed at the last minute. The album is now set to be released on October 25th, and features guest appearances from Kid Cudi, Mos Def, and Tyler, the Creator, among others.

Eminem – Kamikaze
Eminem surprised fans by releasing his tenth studio album Kamikaze without any prior announcement. The album features guest appearances from Royce da 5’9″, Joyner Lucas, and Jessie Reyez, and has already been met with critical acclaim.

Mac Miller – Swimming
Mac Miller’s fifth studio album is set to be released on August 3rd. Swimming is Miller’s first album since his break-up with Ariana Grande, and includes the single “Self Care”.

Travis Scott – ASTROWORLD
