A song must be released commercially in single form to qualify for inclusion on the Hot 100; a song that is not officially released in single form is not eligible to chart. If a song spent non-consecutive weeks at number one, it was allowed to accumulate on the Hot 100 for as many weeks as it logged at number one.

In July 2014, the UK Singles Chart expanded to include streaming data from services such as Spotify and Deezer, as well as from official YouTube streams. As of November 2014, the UK Singles Chart is also updated on a Friday instead of a Sunday like most other music charts worldwide.
