As the year comes to a close, we take a look back at the best pop albums of 2015. It’s been a great year for pop music, with a wide variety of sounds and styles to choose from. Here are our top 10 picks for the best pop albums of 2015.

Taylor Swift – 1989

1989 is the fifth studio album by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, released on October 27, 2014, through Big Machine Records. Swift began planning the album during the same year which Red was released, and during a significant amount of media scrutiny. Like her previous work, the album was inspired by 1980s synth-pop and deals with themes of romance and nostalgia.

Pre-production took place just after the release of her fourth studio album Red which resulted in a highly creative collaboration between Swift and new producers Jack Antonoff and Shellback. The album’s singles “Shake It Off”, “Blank Space”, and “Style” were all commercially successful; each peaked within the top 10 on Billboard Hot 100. 1989 peaked at number one on Billboard 200 afterwards spending eleven consecutive weeks atop the US albums chart; it included three other number one USRadio hits: “Bad Blood”, “Wildest Dreams”, and “Out of the Woods”. 1989 won Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the 58th Grammy Awards, making Swift only the second female artist to win both categories (the first being Alison Krauss in 2010). The first five singles released from 1989 have all reached number one on Billboard Radio Songs chart, making it the first album to achieve this feat since Michael Jackson’s Bad thirty years earlier in 1987. With that achievement, Swift became only 20 years old as well as becoming become both youngest artist ever to win Album of The Year & youngest female artist to win both categories.

Meghan Trainor – Title

Meghan Trainor’s debut album, “Title,” was one of the best pop albums of 2015. It featured the hit single “All About That Bass,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for eight weeks. The album also included the singles “Lips Are Moving” and “Dear Future Husband.”

The year 2015 was an excellent year for pop music. We saw a lot of great new artists emerge, as well as some new music from established artists. There were a lot of catchy songs that got stuck in our heads, and we’re going to countdown the top 10 best pop songs of 2015.

“Uptown Funk” – Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars

Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk” featuring Bruno Mars was one of the biggest hits of 2015. The song spent 14 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it the longest-running number one song of the year. “Uptown Funk” also won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

“Thinking Out Loud” – Ed Sheeran

“Thinking Out Loud” is a song by English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, recorded for his second studio album, × (2014). The track was written by Sheeran in collaboration with fellow singer-songwriter Amy Wadge and produced by frequent collaborator Jake Gosling. It was released in the United Kingdom as a digital download on 7 October 2014. “Thinking Out Loud” reached number one on the UK Singles Chart after 19 weeks, becoming the longest climb to the top of the chart for a British artist.

In September 2015, “Thinking Out Loud” received a nomination for Song of the Year at the 2015 Grammy Awards. On 12 February 2016, it won two Grammy Awards for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance at the 58th ceremony.

“Can’t Feel My Face” – The Weeknd

The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face” was one of the best pop songs of 2015. The song debuted at number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and eventually peaked at number one, making it the first song by The Weeknd to top the chart. “Can’t Feel My Face” was also nominated for two Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
