In part, this is due to changing musical tastes; as hip-hop continues to dominate the charts, there is less room for pop stars like Gaga to make a dent. In addition, Gaga has faced stiff competition from other pop divas in recent years, including Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, and Beyoncé. Each of these ladies have released chart-topping albums and singles over the past few years, further crowding out Gaga from radio play and mindshare.

It’s also worth noting that while Gaga enjoyed massive success with “The Fame” and “The Fame Monster,” her follow-up albums “Born This Way” and “ARTPOP” were both commercial and critical flops. After taking a break to focus on her acting career — she earned an Oscar nomination for her role in “A Star Is Born” — it remains to be seen if Gaga can recapture the same level of success she once enjoyed with her music career.
