Selling 957,000 copies in its first week, “Graduation” marked a significant sales increase from West’s previous releases. The album received generally positive reviews from music critics who praised the music’s dramatic atmosphere and samples. It has been certified double Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and has sold 2,700,000 copies in the United States.
“The Sweet Escape” by Gwen Stefani
Stefani’s second solo album, The Sweet Escape, was released in December 2006. The first single from the album, “Wind It Up”, was released in November 2006 and peaked at number thirteen on the Billboard Hot 100. “The Sweet Escape” was released as the album’s second single in December 2006 and reached number two on the Hot 100, becoming Stefani’s second solo single to reach the top of the chart.

Rihanna’s third studio album, “Good Girl Gone Bad,” was released in May 2007. It won Grammy Awards for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and Best Rap Song, and it remains one of Rihanna’s most iconic hits.
“Beautiful Liar” by Beyoncé
“Beautiful Liar” is a song recorded by American singer Beyoncé and Colombian singer Shakira. The duo released the song as the lead single from Beyoncé’s second studio album, B’Day (2007), and Shakira’s eighth studio album, Oral Fixation, Vol. 2 (2005). “Beautiful Liar” was composed by Rodney Jerkins, Makeba Riddick, laShawn Daniels, Beyoncé, and Shakira. The song was originally conceived by Jerkins who wanted to produce a duet featuring Beyoncé and Shakira. B’Day was scheduled to be released on Beyoncé’s birthday (September 4), hence the album’s title. However it was postponed due to production delays and “Beautiful Liar”‘s release date was set for March 14, 2007.
The single peaked at number three on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and became Beyoncé’s eleventh top ten single as a solo artist, and Shakira’s sixth. It peaked at number one in more than fifty countries including Australia, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom where it remained for four weeks making it Beyoncé’s fourth chart topper there.
Both artists sang in English and Spanish: Beyoncé sang in English in the first verse; Shakira sang her part mostly in Spanish with some words in English towards the end of her verse; then both artists alternated during the chorus with Shakira singing most of her lines in Spanish and Beyoncé replying with lines mostly in English until both climaxed singing together mostly in Spanish during the last two lines of the chorus (“Todo lo que soy / Todo lo que quiero eres tu”).
“Apologize” by Timbaland
“Apologize” is a song written by Ryan Tedder and Greg Kurstin of American alternative rock band OneRepublic for their debut album, Dreaming Out Loud. The song was released as the second single from that album, on April 20, 2007. A remix featuring American rapper Ludacris was included on the release.
“Apologize” peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, remaining there for four weeks, behind Rihanna’s “Umbrella”. It spent 25 consecutive weeks on the Hot 100 chart, and topped Billboard’s Pop 100 and Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks charts. The song reached number three in Canada and Australia. It became OneRepublic’s first single in the United Kingdom, reaching number 16 on the UK Singles Chart. In fall 2007 it became one of the most downloaded songs of all time in Apple’s iTunes store.
A video directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris was made to promote the song. It depicts lead singer Ryan Tedder walking through Manhattan’s businesses and sidewalks, encountering various people along his way who share their sorrows with him; he tries to help them by singing them his song. On October 25 2007 the video won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Visual Effects.
