BTS

BTS, also known as the Bangtan Boys, is a seven-member South Korean boy band formed by Big Hit Entertainment. Their name in Korean, BangtanSonyeondan (Hangul: 방탄소년단; RR: BangtanSonyeondan), and Japanese, Bōdan Shōnendan (防弾少年団?), both translate to “Bulletproof Boy Scouts”. They debuted on June 13, 2013, with the song “No More Dream” from their first album 2 Cool 4 Skool, and have since released five studio albums (two in English) and one compilation album. Following their establishment in 2010 as a street hip hop group writing their own songs and performing shows in small venues throughout Seoul’s underground music scene, BTS have earned global recognition for their musical achievements.

BLACKPINK

BLACKPINK is a South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment. The group consists of four members: Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé.

Their debut single album “Square One” was released on August 8, 2016, along with the lead single “Whistle”. It peaked at number 40 on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart and has sold over 1.5 million copies in South Korea.

On November 1st, 2018, BLACKPINK became the first female K-pop group to perform at Coachella.

TWICE

TWICE is a nine-member South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment in 2015. The group is composed of Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu. The name of the group “TWICE” was chosen as it represents the fact that members are the girls who can get love from people all around the world “two times”, once through music and again through visuals.

The group debuted on October 20, 2015 with the mini album The Story Begins including the lead single “Like Ooh-Ahh”. TWICE rose to prominence in 2016 with their single “Cheer Up”, which charted at number one on the Gaon Digital Chart and became the best-performing single of the year. It was followed by “TT”, whose music video is the fourth most watched K-pop music video of all time. TWICE won their first ever daesang (grand prize) at the 28th Golden Disk Awards in January 2017 for their album Twicetagram.

EXO

EXO is a South Korean–Chinese boy group produced by S.M. Entertainment. The group debuted in 2012 with twelve members separated into two subgroups, EXO-K and EXO-M, performing music in Korean and Mandarin, respectively. Their first album XOXO, which contained the breakthrough hit “Growl”, was a critical and commercial success; it sold over one million copies, making EXO the best-selling Korean artists in twelve years. The album’s title track “Growl” was ranked number three on Billboard’s Korea K-Pop Hot 100 singles chart and became the best-performing single of 2013 in South Korea.

SEVENTEEN

SEVENTEEN is a K-pop group that debuted in 2015 under Pledis Entertainment. The group is made up of thirteen members, divided into three sub-units: “Hip-Hop Team”, “Vocal Team”, and “Performance Team”. SEVENTEEN is known for their unique choreography, which includes all thirteen members dancing together as one.

SEVENTEEN has released four studio albums, six mini-albums, and twenty-eight singles. Their latest album, ‘An ode’, was released in 2019 and debuted at number one on the Billboard World Albums chart. The album’s lead single, “Fear”, won the award for Song of the Year at the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards.
