Music Videos
In recent years, hip hop has taken the world by storm. It’s a genre that is unique, fresh, and exciting. The best hip hop music and videos are those that are able to capture the essence of the culture. They are able to tell a story and connect with the audience.
Hip Hop
Hip hop is a musical genre and culture that originated in the Bronx, New York City, in the 1970s. It is widely considered to be the most important cultural movement of the 20th century. The use of the term “hip hop” to describe this music and cultural phenomenon first appeared in print in 1971, on an album by Cowboy Mouth.
Rapper, MC, and disc jockey Afrika Bambaataa is credited with first using the term to describe the music and culture of South Bronx youth in the late 1970s. Hip hop became popular outside of the African-American community inStetsasonic’s 1986 song “In Full Gear”, and five years later in Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power”.
While often used to refer strictly to hip hop music (also called “rap”), hip hop is characterized by four key stylistic elements: MCing/rapping, DJing/scratching with turntables, break dancing, and graffiti writing. Other elements include sampling (or synthesis), beatboxing, and instrumental tracks.
Hip hop as both a musical genre and a culture was formed during the 1970s when block parties became increasingly popular among working class and poor residents of inner city neighborhoods such as Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn and The Bronx in New York City.
Rap
Rap is a music genre that consists of rhythmic vocal delivery that is often accompanied by backing beats. This can be achieved through the use of a variety of musical styles including: R&B, Soul, Funk, Disco, Reggae, and Rock. Rap music developed in the 1970s in the United States. It has expanded globally in the 21st century.
