Arturo Sandoval

Arturo Sandoval is a Cuban trumpeter, pianist, and composer who was born in 1949 in Artemisa, Cuba. He defected to the United States in 1980 and became a naturalized citizen in 1999. He has won 10 Grammy Awards and been nominated for 19 others. He has performed with many well-known artists such as Dizzy Gillespie, Frank Sinatra, Mickey Hart, and Justin Timberlake.

Poncho Sanchez

Poncho Sanchez is a Latin jazz musician who was born in Laredo, Texas, on October 30, 1951. He is the son of Mexican migrants whoLater moved to California. Sanchez began playing the congas when he was eight years old and by the age of fourteen, he was appearing onstage with Tito Puente. In 1975, Sanchez made his recording debut as a leader with the album Sonido San Diego. He has recorded over thirty albums as a leader and has collaborated with such artists as Dizzy Gillespie, Cal Tjader, Mongo Santamaria, McCoy Tyner, and Terence Blanchard. Poncho Sanchez is widely regarded as one of the finest Latin jazz musicians of his generation.

Chick Corea is an American jazz pianist, keyboardist, and composer. He is a prolific bandleader and sideman, and has been nominated for 63 Grammy Awards over the course of his career. He has won 22 of those awards, the most of any jazz artist. His work spans a wide range of genres including Latin jazz, bebop, avant-garde, fusion, and straight-ahead jazz. He is also known for his work with children through the Chick Corea Akoustic Band’s Music Education program.

Eddie Palmieri

Eddie Palmieri is a nine-time Grammy Award winning pianist, composer and band leader born in 1936 in New York City. His music is a blend of African-American rhythm and blues with Afro-Cuban and Puerto Rican influences, as well as a touch of Jazz.

Palmieri began his musical career in the 1950s as part of the Latin Jazz Boom that occurred in New York City. He was an integral part of the development of Latin Jazz and helped to expand the genre beyond its Cuban and African roots. He is credited with popularizing the Afro-Cuban montuno piano style and was one of the first band leaders to use electric piano and bass guitar in a Latin Jazz context.

Palmieri has led numerous bands throughout his career, including “La Perfecta”, “The Golden Men of Latin Jazz” and “Lehman Engines”. He has also worked with some of the biggest names in Jazz, such as Mongo Santamaria, Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente and Dave Brubeck. His most recent album, “Listen Here!”, was released in 2013 to critical acclaim.
