“Roar” is a song by American singer Katy Perry for her fourth studio album, Prism (2013). It was released as the lead single from the album on August 10, 2013. The song was written and produced by Dr. Luke, Max Martin, and Cirkut. “Roar” is a pop song with elements of arena rock and lyrics about fighting through struggles. Upon its release, “Roar” received generally mixed reviews from music critics; many praised its production and Perry’s vocal performance while others criticized its lyrical content. It became Perry’s eighth non-consecutive number-one song on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, tying her with Mariah Carey and Rihanna for fifth place among female artists with the most number-one songs in the chart’s history.
