How to Make a Dubstep Song in Music Maker

Music Maker is a powerful tool that allows you to create your own music. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to make a dubstep song in Music Maker.

Choose a tempo

The tempo of a dubstep song is usually between 140 and 180 beats per minute (BPM), so choose a tempo that falls within that range. For this example, we’ll choose 140 BPM.

Find a drum loop

The best way to start making a dubstep song is to find a drum loop. You can use any drums you want, but it’s best to use a 808 or 909 kick with a snare on the 2 and 4. Once you have your drum loop, you can start adding in other elements.

Layer in some bass

Now that you have your drums, it’s time to add some low end with a bassline. Dubstep is all about the bass, so don’t be afraid to go overboard. If you’re using Lifesaver, load up a couple of different bass patches and experiment with them until you find something you like. If you want to add a little bit of gnarly distortion to your bass, try using the “Bass Overdrive” or “Tube Amp” effects.

Once you’ve found a sound you like, it’s time to start programming your bassline. If you’re not sure where to start, try playing around with some of the preset patterns in Lifesaver or come up with something of your own. Once you have a few bars of your bassline programmed, it’s time to move on to the next step.

Add a synth

Start by adding a synth to your project. For this dubstep song, we’ll use the EDM Synth from the library.

Click and drag the EDM Synth from the library into your project.

Now that you have your synth in your project, you’ll need to add some notes.

To do this, click on the pencil tool in the top toolbar and then click on the location in your project where you want to add a note. A piano roll will appear with a note at the location you clicked.

You can click and drag the note to change its pitch, or click and drag on the sides of the note to change its length.

Repeat this process until you have a melody that you like.

Layer in some more percussion

In order to make a proper dubstep song, you’ll need to make sure that you have plenty of percussion. This can be done by layering in different tracks of drums and sound effects. You can also use a drum machine to create a more authentic dubstep sound.

Add an FX loop

Now that you have your basic track set up, it’s time to add some effects. In this case we’re going to be using an FX loop. First, find an interesting sound effect that you want to use in your song. Something that has a good bit of low end always works well in dubstep. Once you have your sound, drag it into the project window. Music Maker will automatically place it in the FX track.

Arrange your song

The arrangement is how you put all the musical parts of your song together. In a dubstep song, this usually means the drums, bassline, and any melody or harmony parts.

A good arrangement will make your song sound organized and coherent. It will also make it easier to mix and produce, because each element will have its own space in the song.

To get started, open up your Music Maker project and add a drum track. Then, add a bassline. If you want to include a melody or harmony part, you can add that next.

Once you have all of your tracks added, it’s time to start arranging them. For the drums, you’ll need to decide what order the different parts will go in. The same goes for the bassline and any other tracks you’ve added.

Think about how the different parts will sound together and what order will make the most sense. You can always rearrange things later if you change your mind.

Once you have everything arranged the way you want it, it’s time to start mixing your song!

Export your song

Now that you’ve finished making your song, it’s time to export it so you can share it with the world! In Music Maker, go to File > Export > Audio.

In the Export Audio window, choose where you want to save your song and give it a name. Then, under Format, choose MP3.

Make sure the Quality is set to at least 192 kbps. This will ensure that your song sounds good when people play it back.

Finally, click Export and wait for Music Maker to finish exporting your song.
