Get a DAW. A DAW is a digital audio workstation, this is what you will use to make your dubstep music. I recommend using FL Studio 11 Producer Edition, it’s what I use. You could also choose to use Ableton Live 9 Suite, or Logic Pro X. These are all great choices, but FL Studio is my favorite.
If you don’t want to spend money on a DAW just yet, you can always download a free one like Audacity or Garageband.However, I highly recommend upgrading to a paid DAW as soon as you can afford it. The free ones are good, but they’re not nearly as good as the paid ones.
Step 2
Now that you have your basic dubstep beat, it’s time to add in some bass. The key to good dubstep is a heavy, wobbling bassline that will make your head nod along with the beat. There are a few ways to create this bass sound. You can use a plug-in like Massive or Sylenth1, or you can use a sample pack like the ones from Sonic Academy. If you want to get really creative, you can evenrecord your own basslines using a bass guitar or synth. Once you have your bass sound, it’s time to add it to your dubstep track.
