One of the earliest surviving examples of what we would now call anime is suspensions days (Opus),a short four-mountain climbing adventure that was part of an exploitation film shown in Nagoya in 1907.

During World War II, propaganda films such as Momotaro: Umi no Shinpeiand Sakariba no Makiwere created for political purposes. In the 1950s, Osamu Tezuka’s Manga became popular among people of all ages due to its simple drawings that could convey emotions while still being easy to understand. This laid the foundation for many future works by Tezuka which would come to be known as manga outside of Japan.

Tezuka’s influence can be felt in many modern works; his art style has been mimicked by many artists such as Hiromi Katōand Akihiro Yamada. One artist who was highly influenced byTezuka but still managed to develop his own unique style is Hayao Miyazaki; his films often contain references to Tezuka’s work
