Dancing to electronic music can be a great way to get your cardio in while enjoying some great tunes. But what exactly happens to your body when you do this?

The History of Electronic Music

Electronic music has come a long way since it was first created in the late 1800s. Today, electronic music is one of the most popular genres of music. It has even been used in movies and video games.

The first electronic instruments

In the late 19th century, inventors started to build machines that made sounds without using any vibrations.Electricity was used to create these sounds.

Some of the first electronic instruments were the Theremin and the Ondes Martenot. These were followed by the first true synthesizers, which were invented in the 1930s.

The first Theremin was built in 1920 by Leon Theremin, a Russian scientist. It was based on an earlier invention called the Termenvox. The Theremin was a strange-looking instrument, with two metal antennas sticking up from a wooden box. The player held one antenna in each hand and moved them to change the sound of the instrument.

The Ondes Martenot was invented in 1928 by Maurice Martenot, a French musician. It looked like a keyboard, with a long wire running from it to a speaker. The player slid their fingers along the wire to change the sound of the instrument.

The first synthesizer was invented in 1930 by German engineer Adolf Weiss. His instrument, called the WeissENWARNUNG Tonaufzeichnungsgerät (or WERK), could create any sound that could be made by an orchestra using electric oscillators, filters, and amplifiers.

The first electronic music

The first electronic music was made in the early 1800s. It was called “musique concrete.” It was made by recording sounds and then manipulating them with electronic devices. In the early 1900s, people began to experiment with making music using only electronic instruments. This music was called “electronic music.” In the 1950s, composers began to experiment with ways to create new sounds using electronic instruments. They developed new ways to create sounds by using oscillators, filters, and other electronic devices. They also began to use computers to create and manipulate sound. This type of electronic music is called “synthesized music.”

The Different Types of Electronic Music

Electronic music is a genre of music that uses electronic musical instruments and electronic music technology in its production. It emerged in the early 20th century with the advent of electrical instruments such as the theremin, the synthesizer, and the turntable. This section will explore the different types of electronic music.

Techno

Techno is a type of electronic dance music that was developed in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The main characteristic of techno music is its use of repetitive beats and basslines. Techno is usually produced using a variety of electronic instruments, including drum machines, synthesizers, and sequencers.

The first techno tracks were created by DJs and producers in Detroit, Michigan in the United States. These early innovators were influenced by a range of different music styles, including funk, electro, and hip hop. One of the earliest and most influential Detroit techno producers was Juan Atkins, who is often credited with creating the sound of techno.

In the early 1990s, techno music became popular in Europe, particularly in Germany. The popularity of techno in Germany was helped by the fact that many German DJs and producers had been influenced by the early Detroit pioneers. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, techno experienced a resurgence in popularity, with artists like Deutsche Bank protégé Paul van Dyk becoming international superstars.

House

House music is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in Chicago in the early 1980s. It was initially popularized by radio stations such as WBMX and WGCI, and later by groups such as House Nation and Jack Trax. House music quickly spread to other parts of the world, including the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, and Portugal.

The style is generally characterized by a 4/4 time signature, a moderate tempo, and a synthesizer-heavy sound. House music often features a repetitive 4/4 bass drum pattern, off-beat hi-hat cymbals, and syncopated hand claps or snaps. House tracks typically use one or two drum machines, with acoustic drums occasionally being used for fill passages.

Drum and Bass

Also called jungle, this type of electronic music is characterized by its fast tempo and syncopated beats. The style developed in the early 1990s in the UK and quickly gained popularity around the world. Drum and bass is often heavily influenced by other genres of music, including hip hop, dub, reggae and even jazz.

Trance

Trance is a genre of electronic music that emerged from the rave and club culture of the 1980s and early 1990s. It is characterized by a tempo of between 130 and 150 beats per minute, repeating melodic phrases, and a musical form that builds up and down throughout a track.

Dubstep

Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London in the late 1990s. It is generally characterized by sparse, syncopated rhythmic patterns with prominent sub-bass frequencies. The style emerged as an offshoot of UK garage, drawing on a lineage of related styles such as 2-step and dub music.

In the 2010s, dubstep grew in popularity among mainstream audiences in the form of Rage Against the Machine, Pendulum, and Skrillex. In the United Kingdom, grime (a descendant of UK garage) also emerged as a popular form of electronic music, while elsewhere in Europe acts such as acid house and techno enjoyed continued popularity.
