Daft Punk
Daft Punk is a French electronic music duo formed in 1993 by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. The two achieved significant popularity in the late 1990s as part of the French house movement; they had continuous success in the years following, combining elements of house music with funk, techno, disco, rock and synthpop influences. They are also known for their visual stylization and disguises associated with their musical personas of “robots”. The duo rose to prominence in 1997 with their debut album Homework and Daft Punk scored several hits from the album including “Around the World” and “Da Funk”. The group’s next album Discovery was even more successful, driven by an expanded sound that incorporated further styles of dance music including disco, rock and Latin American music. The album was supported by singles including “One More Time”, “Digital Love” and “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger”. In March 2005 they released their third album Human After All to mixed reviews; however its singles “Robot Rock” and “Technologic” were successful.
Following extensive touring throughout 2006–2007 in support of Human After All, Daft Punk worked on a remix album titled Human After All: Remixes as well as their fourth studio album Random Access Memories. The latter was released in 2013 to critical acclaim and topped many year-end charts. Random Access Memories won five Grammy Awards in 2014, including Album of the Year for Daft Punk at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. The duo became one of only three electronic acts to receive this honor. Additionally, Random Access Memories received critical acclaim for its pioneering use of guest musicians such as Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder, Paul Williams and Julian Casablancas—a departure from Daft Punk’s typical reliance on samples.
Daft Punk’s last public appearance was at the Grammy Awards ceremony in February 2014 where they received a standing ovation after winning Album of the Year; they were not present to accept it due to scheduling conflicts relating to their tour schedule.
The Chemical Brothers
The Chemical Brothers are an English electronic dance music duo composed of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, originating in Manchester in 1989. Along with The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, and other acts, they helped to pioneer the big beat genre. In the United Kingdom, they have had six number one singles on the UK Singles Chart and 13 number one albums on the UK Albums Chart. According to an October 1993 article in NME, “The Chemical Brothers” were “the first new acid house generation,” while Simons was quoted as saying that their sound was “totally unique.”
The duo’s first album Exit Planet Dust (1995) entered the UK chart at number 9 and peaked at number 5. It included the hit singles “Leave Home” and “Setting Sun”. Their second album Dig Your Own Hole (1997) topped the UK charts and included three top 10 singles, “Block Rockin’ Beats”, “Elektrobank”, and “The Private Psychedelic Reel”. In 2005 they released Push The Button which debuted at number 1 on the UK charts; it eventually went platinum in September 2006. The title track included a sample of Q-Tip’s rap from their song “Midnight” from their 1999 album Amplified. Based on sales of album and single copies, Push The Button is each member’s most commercially successful release as of 2018.
Justice
Formed in 2003 by Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay, Justice is a French electronic music duo. The group’s debut album † was released in 2007 to critical acclaim. Justice is known for their unique visual aesthetic, which includes the use of the cross as their logo. justice has been nominated for three Grammy Awards and have won two MTV Video Music Awards.
LCD Soundsystem
LCD Soundsystem is an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2002 by musician James Murphy, co-founder of DFA Records. The band began by playing a mix of house and punk rock. They gained popularity after the release of their debut album, LCD Soundsystem (2005), as well as their singles “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House” and “I Can Change”. In 2007, the band released their second album, Sound of Silver, to critical acclaim. They went on to release This Is Happening in 2010 and American Dream in 2017.
The band is widely considered one of the best electronic dance music groups of all time, with Rolling Stone naming them the 35th greatest act of the 21st century. Their sound is a mix of house, punk rock, disco, and synth-pop. They have released five studio albums and three live albums over the course of their career.

The band has released five studio albums, the most recent of which, FROM DEEWEE, was released in March 2017.
The group’s first album, Much Against Everyone’s Advice was released in 1998 to critical acclaim. The album spawned the singles “Too Many DJs” and “E Talking”. In 2003, the band released their second album, Any Minute Now. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album. Digitalism
Digitalism is a German electronic music duo formed in Hamburg in 2004, consisting of Jens Moelle and Ismail Tuefekci. The duo’s music style has been described as a blend of IDM, new wave, rock, and techno. They are best known for their singles “Pogo” and “Zdarlight”, as well as their remixes of tracks by Depeche Mode, Justice, and New Order.
Digitalism released their debut album Idealism in 2007 to critical acclaim; it was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 2008 awards. In 2011, they released their second album I Love You, Dude.
2manydjs
2manydjs are a Belgian DJ and record producer duo composed of brothers David and Stephen Dewaele. They were voted #25 in Mixmag’s 2006 Top 50 DJs of the Year poll, #9 in 2007 and #8 in 2010. In late August 2009, they announced via their MySpace blog that they would be completing a world tour before working on their next studio album. In 2014 they announced they were going on an indefinite hiatus.
