History

The Psychedelic Furs are an English rock band that was founded in 1977. The band’s music consists of rock and roll with elements of punk and new wave. The Psychedelic Furs have released seven studio albums, three live albums, 24 singles, and 17 music videos.

The band was formed in London by brothers Richard and Tim Butler, Duncan Kilburn, and Paul Wilson. The Butler brothers are the only members of the band who have been with the group since its inception. The Psychedelic Furs’ debut album, The Psychedelic Furs, was released in 1980. The album’s second single, “Love My Way”, became a Top 10 hit in the UK and Australia.

The band’s second album, Talk Talk Talk, was released in 1981. The album’s lead single, “Pretty in Pink”, was used as the basis for the 1986 John Hughes film of the same name. “Pretty in Pink” peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart and was also a Top 10 hit in Australia and New Zealand.

The Psychedelic Furs’ third album, Mirror Moves, was released in 1984. The album’s lead single, “Heaven”, peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart and also charted in Australia and New Zealand.

Following the release of Mirror Moves, the Psychedelic Furs went on hiatus until 1991 when they released their fourth album, World Outside. The album’s first single,”Until She Comes”, peaked at number eight on the US Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart.

After a five-year break, thePsychedelic Furs returned with their fifth studio album, Beautiful Chaos: Greatest Hits Live. The album featured live recordings of tracks from throughout the band’s career as well as two new tracks; “I Believe” and “Alive (For Once In My Lifetime)”.

In 2001, thePsychedelic Furs released their sixth studio album,. Called simply Come Alive , it featured 11 new tracks including lead single “Heartbeat” which precededthe release by 3 months

The band’s primary songwriters were Barrett, Waters and Wright. Floyd’s hit songs included “See Emily Play”, “Money”, “The Pigs”, “Careful with That Axe, Eugene”, “Echoes” and “Time”. They are one of the most commercially successful and influential groups in popular music history.

Pink Floyd were inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005. They have sold more than 250 million albums worldwide and were voted by Rolling Stone magazine as the greatest rock band of all time.
