The Psychedelic Furs – “The Ghost in You”
The Psychedelic Furs are an English rock band founded in 1977. Led by singer Richard Butler and his brother Tim Butler on bass guitar, the Psychedelic Furs originally comprised Karl Jenkins (keyboards), Duncan Kilburn (saxophone) and Paul Wilson (drums), who were all recruited through ads placed in “Melody Maker” and “Sounds” magazines. The Butler brothers, who had been in a band together since they were teenagers, are the only members of the Psychedelic Furs to appear on all of their albums.
The Psychedelic Furs rose to prominence with their 1980 single “Pretty in Pink”, which was later used as the title for the 1986 John Hughes film Pretty in Pink. The band went on to release seven studio albums, three compilation albums and 22 singles. They have been described as “one of the great underrated bands” and have influenced many other artists, including Nirvana, R.E.M., Radiohead and Blur.
