They made some changes in personnel and moved towards a progressively more experimental and avant-garde sound on albums such as Days of Future Passed and In Search of the Lost Chord.
The Moody Blues have been credited as one of the first groups to pioneer the use of electronic instruments in rock music, specifically the Mellotron – Thomas was an early adopter of the instrument. Riding high on the success of their album Seventh Sojourn, the band released this song as a single in 1972.
