How to Play “Lose My Soul” on Piano
This how-to guide will show you how to play the song “Lose My Soul” on the piano.
Learn the chords
To play “Lose My Soul,” you’ll need to know how to play four basic chords on the piano. The chords you’ll need to know are C, D, Em, and G. These chords are all very easy to learn, and once you know them, you’ll be able to play a huge variety of songs.
To play a C chord, start by finding the note C on the piano. Once you’ve found it, put your thumb on that key, and then place your middle finger on the key immediately to the right of it. Finally, place your ring finger on the key immediately to the right of that. When you’ve got all three fingers in place, you’re ready to play the chord.
The next chord you need to learn is D. To play a D chord, start by finding the note D on the piano. Once you’ve found it, put your thumb on that key, and then place your middle finger on the key immediately to the right of it. Finally, place your ring finger on the key immediately to the right of that. When you’ve got all three fingers in place, you’re ready to play the chord.
The third chord you need to learn is Em. To play an Em chord, start by finding the note E on the piano. Once you’ve found it, put your thumb on that key, and then place your middle finger on the note immediate below it (which would be D). Finally, place your ring finger on the note two keys below E (which would be B). When you’ve got all three fingers in place, you’re ready to play this very important chord!
The last chord is G. To play a G chord at first might seem a little bit tricky because there are two black keys in a row right next to each other where we need to put our fingers down. But don’t worry–it’s not as hard as it looks! Just remember: when playing chords involving black keys like this one does, always use your pinky finger for any black keys that come after another black key in succession like this one does (in other words: We use our pinky finger for any black keys that come after another black Key where there is no white key in between them). So starting from the note G, put down your pinky on the next black key over (which would be Bb), then put down your ring finger right above that one (on G again), then put down your middle finger right above that one too (on A), and finally rest your thumb lightly on top of those three fingers just above where they’re sitting on Bb (but don’t press down–just rest it there lightly!). And that’s it! Those are all four chords we need for this song–now let’s put them together and learn how to play “Lose My Soul”!
