You’ve just written the best blog post ever. It’s SEO optimized, keyword rich, and provides value to your readers. But there’s one small problem: you don’t have a catchy title. The title is one of the most important aspects of your blog post, and if you don’t have a good one, your post will never see the light of day.

SEO Basics

There are three main types of optimization you can do for your website: on-page, off-page, and technical. Let’s take a look at each one.

On-page SEO is the practice of optimizing individual web pages to rank higher and earn more relevant traffic in search engines. On-page SEO refers to both the content and HTML source code of a page that can be optimized, as opposed to off-page SEO which refers to links and other external signals.

Off-page SEO is the practice of optimizing a website for improved performance in search engine results pages (SERPs). Off-page SEO refers to all of the activities that you can do outside of your website that will help you rank higher in SERPs.

Technical SEO is the practice of ensuring that all potential problems with a website’s technical setup are being addressed so that the site can be properly indexed and ranked by search engines. Technical SEO usually involves working with a site’s backend code and structure, as well as troubleshooting any issues that may be preventing search engines from being able to properly access and index a site’s content.

Set up GSC and Bing Webmaster tools

If you want your website to rank in Google, you need to set up Google Search Console (formerly known as Google Webmaster tools). This is a free tool provided by Google that gives you insights into how your website is performing in their search results. You can use it to see if there are any errors on your site, track your keyword rankings, and get other useful data.

Bing Webmaster tools is another free tool provided by Microsoft that can be used to track your website’s performance in Bing’s search results. While it doesn’t have as many features as GSC, it’s still a valuable resource for tracking your website’s SEO.

To set up GSC, you need to add and verify your website with Google. You can do this by going to the GSC homepage and clicking on the “Add a Property” button. Enter your website’s URL and click “Add”.

Set up Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a really powerful tool that allows you to track pretty much everything about your website traffic. And it’s free! To get started, you need to create a Google Analytics account and then add a small snippet of code to your website. If you’re using WordPress, there are a ton of plugins that will let you add the code without having to edit your theme files.

Once you have Google Analytics set up, there are a few key things you should track:
-The number of visitors to your site
-The average time spent on your site
-The bounce rate (the percentage of people who leave after viewing only one page)
-The number of new visitors vs. returning visitors
-The number of organic vs. non-organic visits (more on that in the next section!)

You can also track specific events, like whether someone signed up for your email list or purchased something from your online store. This information can be really valuable in understanding how people interact with your site and what content is most popular.

Install and configure an SEO plugin (wordpress)

If you’re using WordPress, then installing and configuring an SEO plugin is a must. Yoast SEO is the most popular SEO plugin for WordPress, and it’s really easy to use. Once you install and activate the plugin, you’ll see a new menu item labeled “SEO” in your WordPress admin panel. Click on it to configure the plugin settings.

Keyword Research

One of the most important things you can do for your SEO is keyword research. This helps you understand what people are searching for when they use Google, which in turn helps you write content that ranks well for those terms.

There are a number of different keyword research tools out there, but my personal favorite is the Google AdWords Keyword Planner. This tool is free to use, and it gives you a wealth of data about the relative popularity of different keywords.

Once you have a list of potential keywords, you need to figure out which ones are most suitable for your website. To do this, you’ll want to look at a variety of factors, including:
-Search volume: How many people are searching for this keyword each month?
-Competition: How much competition is there for this keyword?
-Relevance: Is this keyword relevant to your website?

You can get an idea of competition by doing a quick Google search for your chosen keyword. If there are a lot of ads and sponsored results on the first page, that’s an indication that there’s a lot of competition for that keyword. And if there aren’t any results on the first page that are relevant to your website, then it’s probably not a good keyword to target.

Identify your competitors

Conduct a keyword gap analysis

Comparing the keywords your site is ranking for against those your competitors are ranking for is a great way to identify gaps in your keyword strategy. Identify where you have an opportunity to improve your keyword coverage and close the gaps to outrank your competitors.

Find your main ‘money’ keywords

Your main ‘money’ keywords are the ones that you really want to rank for in Google because they have a high commercial value.

To find your main ‘money’ keywords, start by brainstorming a list of about 50 potential keywords that you think people would use to find your product or service. Then use a keyword research tool like Google’s Keyword Planner, Moz’s Keyword Explorer, or semrush.com to find out how many people are searching for each of those keywords every month.

Finally, choose the 10-15 keywords that have the highest monthly search volume and are also relevant to your product or service. These are your main ‘money’ keywords.

Technical SEO

I’ve been playing the piano for a few years now and I’ve always loved it. I’ve been looking for a good resource for piano sheet music and I think I’ve found it. A website that is not mobile-friendly will be difficult to navigate on a small screen and may even appear broken.

To ensure your website is mobile-friendly, you can use Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test tool. This tool will analyze your website and provide you with a report of any issues that need to be fixed in order to make your site mobile-friendly.

Once you have made all the necessary changes, you should then register your site with Google Search Console. This will allow Google to index your site properly and make it easier for users to find when they search for relevant keywords.

Check your site’s loading speed

Slow loading sites are a huge issue for users and a major source of frustration. Not only that, but Google has stated that loading speed is a factor in their ranking algorithm. So if you want your site to rank well, you need to make sure it loads quickly.

Fortunately, there are a number of ways to improve your site’s loading speed. One is to optimize the images on your site. Images can often be large files that take a long time to load. There are a number of ways to optimize images, including reducing their file size and using compression.

Another way to improve your site’s loading speed is to optimize the code. This can be done by minifying the code and eliminating unnecessary code. Additionally, you can use caching to improve loading times.

Finally, you need to make sure your hosting is up to snuff. If your host is slow, no matter how well optimized your site is, it will still load slowly. Make sure you’re using a good quality hosting provider with fast servers.

If you’re looking at your website’s traffic and wondering why it isn’t performing as well as it could be, one of the first places to check is your meta descriptions. Meta descriptions are the short snippets of text that appear under your page’s title in the search engine results pages (SERPs). They give potential visitors a brief overview of what your page is about, and can be a make-or-break factor in whether someone clicks through to your site.

Unfortunately, many websites either don’t have meta descriptions at all, or have duplicate or missing ones. This can be a major missed opportunity, as a well-written meta description can be the difference between a searcher finding and clicking through to your site, or moving on to the next result.

In this article, we’ll show you how to find and fix duplicate or missing meta descriptions on your website.

What are Meta Descriptions?
A meta description is a short piece of text that describes a given page’s content. Meta descriptions are used by search engines to help determine what a given page is about, and are also displayed in the SERPs under the page’s title.

This is an example of how a meta description might look in the SERPs:

Find and fix multiple H1 tags

If you have more than one H1 tag on your page, it can hurt your SEO. Google usually only wants to see one H1 tag per page, so anything beyond that is likely to be ignored or penalized. To fix this, simply find all the H1 tags on your page and remove all but one of them.

Off-Page SEO

One of the most important aspects of SEO is making sure your website is informative and keyword rich. However, if you want to really draw in the crowds, you need to go beyond on-page SEO. This is where off-page SEO comes in.

When you’re looking at your competitor’s link profile, you want to make sure that you’re not just looking at the number of links, but also the quality of those links. In order to do a thorough link analysis, you’ll want to take a look at the following metrics:

-Domain Authority: This is a measure of the overall strength of a website’s backlink profile. The higher the domain authority, the more valuable the links from that site will be.
-Page Authority: This is a measure of the strength of a particular page’s backlink profile. The higher the page authority, the more valuable the links from that page will be.
-Link Juice: This is a measure of how much “link juice” a particular link will pass on to your site. The higher the link juice, the more valuable the link will be.
-Link Type: This is a measure of whether a link is follow (i.e., passes link juice) or nofollow (i.e., doesn’t pass link juice). Follow links are generally more valuable than nofollow links.

By looking at all of these metrics, you’ll be able to get a better idea of which links are most valuable and which ones you should be trying to acquire for your own site.

A link intersect analysis is a great way to find new link opportunities. It involves finding websites that link to your competitors, but not to you.

To do this, you need a list of your competitors. Once you have that, you can use a tool like Majestic or Ahrefs to find all the websites that link to your competitors.

Once you have that list, it’s time to start intersecting. Go through the list and see if any of the websites also link to you. If they do, you can cross them off the list.

What you’re left with is a list of websites that link to your competition, but not to you. These are prime opportunities for you to get a new link.

To get started, all you need is a list of your competitors. From there, you can use a tool like Majestic or Ahrefs to find all the websites that link to them. Once you have that list, it’s time to do an intersect analysis and see if any of those websites also link to you.

Your competitors’ broken backlinks are a source of evergreen content opportunities for you.

Whenever a competitor’s site links to a page that no longer exists, that’s a great opportunity for you to swoop in and create similar content to what was there before, then offer it up to the site linking to the old page (called an “authority site”).

Not only will this give you an evergreen piece of content (since it will always be relevant as long as your competitor’s site is up), but it will also help you build relationships with authority sites in your industry.
