ACM Awards history

The Academy of Country Music Awards are held every year to recognize the best and brightest in the country music industry. This year’s awards show is set to take place on April 7, 2019. This will be the 54th time the awards have been held.

ACM Awards past winners

The Academy of Country Music Awards are an annual awards show to recognize outstanding achievement in the country music industry. The shows are typically held in April or May, and the list of nominees is released in February or early March. Winners are selected by a vote of the academy’s membership.

The first ACM Awards show was held in 1966 in Los Angeles, California. The awards were created to recognize the best in country music and to promote the genre. The show was hosted by Dick Clark and featured performances by some of the biggest names in country music at the time, including Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and Tammy Wynette.

Over the years, the ACM Awards have become one of country music’s biggest nights, with performances from all of the genre’s biggest stars. Some of the most memorable moments have come when artists have used their platform to speak out on social and political issues affecting the country music industry and its fans.

In recent years, the ACM Awards have been plagued by controversy surrounding their lack of diversity among nominees and winners. This has led to calls for change from within the industry, and it remains to be seen how this will affect future shows.

ACM Awards memorable moments

The Academy of Country Music Awards has been around since 1966, making it one of the longest-running award shows on television. In that time, there have been plenty of memorable moments. Here are just a few of the most iconic ACM Awards moments in history.

-In 1977, Hank Williams Jr. won his first Entertainer of the Year award, making him the only artist to win the award in three different decades (1970s, 1980s, and 1990s).
-In 1995, Garth Brooks won a record-tying four awards, including Entertainer of the Year. He would go on to win the award a total of seven times (a record he shares with Taylor Swift).
-In 2002, Toby Keith won an unprecedented three awards in one night: Male Vocalist of the Year, Single Record of the Year for “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American),” and Video of the Year for “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue.”
-In 2010, Miranda Lambert made history as she became the first woman in 14 years to win Album of the Year for her album “Revolution.”

Gabby Barrett is a front-runner in this category, having just released her debut album last year. Ingrid Andress burst onto the scene last year with her debut single, “Lady Like.” The song was a breakout hit, and it earned Andress a nomination for Best New Artist at the CMA Awards. She’s following up that success with her current single, “More Hearts Than Mine,” which is climbing the charts right now. Andress is also nominated for Female Artist of the Year at the ACMs, so she could be taking home multiple awards on April 7.

5 . Luke Combs
Luke Combs had a massive year in 2019, releasing his second album, What You See Is What You Get , which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album spawned several hits singles, including “She Got The Best Of Me,” “Even Though I’m Leaving,” and Combs’ latest release, “Does To Me.” Combs is also nominated for Male Artist of the Year at the ACMs , so he could be taking home multiple awards on April 7 .
