Steven Curtis Chapman is an American singer-songwriter and record producer, born in Paducah, Kentucky, United States. Chapman has also won five Grammy awards and 58 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, more than any other artist in history. His seven Artist of the Year Dove Awards, his latest in 2009, are also an all-time record. In 1987 he broke onto the Christian music scene with his first album “First Hand”.

Kirk Franklin

Kirk Franklin is an American gospel musician, songwriter, and choir director. He is one of the best-selling gospel music artists of all time. Franklin’s records have sold over 20 million units worldwide. He has won numerous awards, including twelve Grammy Awards, thirtyseven Dove Awards, and a Soul Train Music Award.

Franklin was born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 26, 1970. He started singing in his church choir at the age of four and by the age of seven he was already leading the choir. After graduating from high school, he attended Oral Roberts University on a gospel music scholarship. He withdrew from college after one semester to pursue a career in music full time.

Franklin’s first album, Kirk Franklin & The Family, was released in 1993. It was a huge success, selling over two million copies and earning him a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album. His second album, Christmas in Blacksburg, was released in 1995 and featured a mixture of traditional Christmas carols and original songs written by Franklin himself.

In 1997, Franklin released his third album God’s Property from Kirk Franklin’s Nu Nation (commonly referred to as simply God’s Property). The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, making it the first gospel album to ever do so. It also won Franklin his second Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album.

After taking a few years off to focus on raising his young family, Franklin returned to music with 2003’s The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin. In 2005, he released Hero; again the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and went on to sell over two million copies worldwide.

Franklin’s most recent album Losing My Religion was released in 2015. It received mixed reviews but still managed to debut at number one on both the Billboard 200 and Top Gospel Albums charts.

Franklin has also appeared on numerous television shows and movies over the course of his career including The Oprah Winfrey Show, Good Morning America, Late Show with David Letterman, and Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail (2009).

CeCe Winans

As one-half of the hugely successful brother-sister duo CeCe & BeBe Winans, Winans has earned 10 Grammy Awards, 30 Stellar Awards, two American Music Awards, a Dove Award and a Soul Train Music Award. Her first solo album, Alone in His Presence, was released in 1995 and received the Dove Award for Contemporary Gospel Album of the Year. Since then, Winans has released eight additional solo albums and gathered numerous awards and honors. She has also appeared on film and television soundtracks, including The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride, The Preacher’s Wife, 7th Heaven and Strong Medicine.
