Anuel AA had a big night at the Latin American Music Awards, taking home four trophies. The reggaeton superstar won awards for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Social Artist of the Year.

Anuel AA was the big winner at the Latin American Music Awards, taking home four awards including Artist of the Year.

The Puerto Rican singer-songwriter won awards for Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for “Ella Quiere Beber,” Digital Artist of the Year, and Favorite Urban Male Artist.

Anuel AA beat out some stiff competition in the Artist of the Year category, including Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Karol G, Ozuna, and Ricky Martin.

In his acceptance speech for Artist of the Year, Anuel AA dedicated his award to late rapper XXXTentacion.

“I want to dedicate this award to one of my brothers who is no longer with us, XXXTentacion,” he said. “Long live X.”

Anuel AA has had a massive year, releasing his debut album Real Hasta la Muerte which topped the Billboard Latin Albums chart. He has also collaborated with some of the biggest names in music including Cardi B, Daddy Yankee, and Ozuna.

Anuel AA’s Big Wins

Anuel AA took home five awards at the Latin American Music Awards, making him the biggest winner of the evening. The awards ceremony, which was held virtually on Thursday due to the coronavirus pandemic, celebrated the best in Latin music. Anuel AA won awards for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, and Digital Artist of the Year.

Artist of the Year

Anuel AA took home the top prize of the night, Artist of the Year, at the Latin American Music Awards. The Puerto Rican singer was also named Favorite Male Artist – Urban at the awards show, which was held Thursday evening at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.

Other big winners included Bad Bunny, who was named Favorite Male Artist – Urban and Favorite Collaboration for his work on “I Like It” with Cardi B and J Balvin; Ozuna, who won Favorite Male Artist – Tropical and Favorite Album – Tropical for Aura; and Camila Cabello, who wonFavorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock.

In addition to Anuel AA and Bad Bunny, other artists who took home multiple awards included Ozuna, J Balvin, Daddy Yankee and Maluma.

Album of the Year

Anuel AA took home the award for Album of the Year at the Latin American Music Awards on Thursday night (Oct. 17) for his debut studio album, Real Hasta la Muerte.

The reggaeton superstar was up against J Balvin, Bad Bunny, Ozuna and Romeo Santos in the category, and he ultimately came out on top with his 14-track project — which includes hits like “Sola,” “Me Llama,” “Nunca Me Olvides” and more. Real Hasta la Muerte was released in August of 2017 and has since been certified platinum by the RIAA.

Anuel AA’s big win at the Latin AMAs is just one of many for the rapper this year. He’s also taken home trophies at the Billboard Latin Music Awards, iHeartRadio Music Awards and Premios Juventud — and he’s still up for several more awards, including New Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards, which will air live on ABC on Oct. 29.

Song of the Year

The Dominican-American rapper, who was born Emmanuel Santiago but is better known by his stage name Anuel AA, took home the prize for Song of the Year at the Latin American Music Awards for his track “China.” The track, which features Daddy Yankee, Karol G, Ozuna, and J. Balvin, was released in April 2019 and quickly went viral, becoming one of the most streamed songs of the year.

Anuel AA also won the award for Favorite Artist – Male, and his song “Real Hasta la Muerte” was named Favorite Song – Male.

Anuel AA’s Reaction to His Big Wins

As the big winner of the night, Anuel AA took home five awards at the Latin American Music Awards including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Favorite Male Artist – Urban and Favorite Streaming Song -Urban. The reggaeton superstar was visibly excited as he took to the stage to accept his awards and even shed a few tears during his speech. “This is for my music, this is forReggaeton,” he said through tears. “I want to thank my family, my daughter for giving me strength, God for giving me life.”

What’s Next for Anuel AA

It’s been a big year for Anuel AA, and it just got even bigger.

The Latin trap and reggaeton star took home five trophies at the Latin American Music Awards on Thursday night (Oct. 17), including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Favorite Male Artist – Urban, Favorite Song – Urban and Favorite Streaming Song – Urban, making him the most-awarded artist of the evening.

With his wins, Anuel AA now has a total of eight Latin AMAs under his belt. He first won in 2018, taking home three awards: New Artist of the Year, Favorite Male Artist – Urban and Favorite Song – Urban for “Ella Quiere Beber.”

What’s next for Anuel AA? He’s currently preparing for the release of his next album, Emmanuel, which is set to drop on Nov. 19.
