Aria is a popular form of classical music that is characterized by its expressive, singing melody. Get to know this beautiful genre through its history, evolution, and most popular pieces.

About Aria

Aria is a type of solo song that originated in Italy during the early 17th century. It is typically a vocal piece that is accompanied by instruments such as the guitar, piano, or orchestra. The word “aria” comes from the Italian word for “air” or “melody.” Arias are often found in operas, musical theatre, and in popular music.

Aria’s beginnings

Aria classical music is a 4-piece band that was started in 2006 in the town of Los Angeles, California. The members of Aria are:

· Vocals and Piano – Emily Ritz
· Violin – Andrew Gutierrez
· Cello – Paul Wiancko
· Viola – Lindsey Eckert

Aria’s mission is to make classical music accessible to everyone and to provide a platform for young artists to shine. Emily Ritz, the lead vocalist and pianist, was born into a musical family and started playing the piano when she was 4 years old. She went on to study opera at the Manhattan School of Music. After moving to Los Angeles, she realized that there was a need for classical music that was geared toward younger audiences. She decided to start Aria with the goal of making classical music more approachable and fun.

The name “Aria” comes from the Italian word for “air” or “melody.” It represents the lightness and beauty of classical music. The band members met while they were all studying at the Colburn School of Music. They share a passion for making classical music accessible to everyone.

Aria has released two albums: “First impressions” (2009) and “No boundaries” (2011). They have also been featured on NPR, PBS, and in The New York Times.

What is Aria?

An aria in music was originally any expressive melody, usually, but not always, performed by a single voice. The term became used almost exclusively to describe a self-contained piece for one voice usually with orchestral accompaniment. It did not necessarily have to be accompanied by strings or other voices; an aria might be accompanied by piano alone.
