Since its launch in 2000, the ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards has grown to become one of the most important events on the music calendar, honoring the songwriters and publishers of the past year’s most performed ASCAP members’ songs on the R&B, hip-hop, rap and gospel charts.

The awards are determined by a votes from ASCAP’s R&B/hip-hop, rap and gospel membership. The Board of Judges, which is comprised of leading songwriters, producers and music industry executives, selects the award winners in the Non-Contested categories.

ASCAP will present several special awards at this year’s ceremony, including the Golden Note Award, which is presented to artists who have achieved extraordinary career milestones; the Founders Award, bestowed upon Songwriter/Artists who have enriched the culture of American music; and the Vanguard Award, given to an ASCAP member whose body of work is among the most pioneering and influential within rhythm & soul.
