Baylor Opera presents “A Little Night Music” by Stephen Sondheim. Come enjoy an evening of music and theater!

What is “A Little Night Music” about?

“A Little Night Music” is a comedy about love and marriage. The story follows a group of friends and lovers in turn-of-the-century Sweden as they deal with the ups and downs of relationships. The show is famous for its beautiful music, including the song “Send in the Clowns.”

When and where is the show?

The show will be performed in Jones Concert Hall on March 3 at 7:30 p.m., March 5 at 2:00 p.m., and March 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Who is in the cast?

The cast of “A Little Night Music” features Baylor faculty, staff, students and community members.

The role of Desirée Armfeldt will be played by Baylor faculty member Dr. Joann Farfaras. Dr. Farfaras is a professor of Voice in the Department of Theatre Arts at Baylor University. She has performed nationally and internationally as a soloist and ensemble member in opera, operetta, oratorio, and concert repertoire.

The role of Fredrik Egerman will be played by Baylor staff member Mr. Eric Wolfe. Mr. Wolfe is the Director of Development for the School of Music at Baylor University. He has been a professional musician for over 20 years and has performed in various venues across the United States.

The role of Anne Egerman will be played by Baylor student Miss Anna Stafford. Miss Stafford is a senior music performance major at Baylor University. She has performed in numerous opera and theatre productions at Baylor and in the Waco community.

The role of Petra will be played by community member Mrs. Janice Jordan. Mrs. Jordan is a retired opera singer who has performed throughout the United States and Europe. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Waco Civic Opera Association

What is the set like?

The set for “A Little Night Music” is quite simple. There is a raised platform at the back of the stage, with a staircase leading up to it. The front of the stage is occupied by a series of chairs and tables, arranged in a way that suggests both a dining room and a ballroom. The set is decorated with flowers and plants, which add to the feeling of summertime romance.

What should the audience expect?

The Baylor Opera will be performing “A Little Night Music” on November 15th and 16th. The show is a comedy about love and relationships, and features some of the most iconic songs in musical theatre, including “Send in the Clowns” and “The More I See You”.
