George Strait- “God and Country Music”

In a recent interview, George Strait was asked what he thought the state of country music was in and he had this to say:

“I think it’s in a good place. I think there’s a lot of great music being made. I’m not sure that all of it is getting heard by as many people as it should be, but I think the talent is definitely there. And I think country radio is playing a lot of great music these days.”

When asked about what his own plans were for the future, Strait said that he was taking things one day at a time and hadn’t really thought too much about the future. However, he did say that he would like to make another album at some point.

Keith Urban- “We Were”

Keith Urban’s “We Were” is a beautiful ballad with a simple, but effective, message: country music can be reflective and introspective without being sentimental or saccharine. The song reflects on a relationship that ended suddenly and unexpectedly, and how even though it’s over, the memories of what they had still linger. The song is filled with regret and nostalgia, but also hope and acceptance. It’s a beautifully crafted song that demonstrates Urban’s incredible talent as a singer and songwriter.

Luke Combs- “Forever After All”

Since his debut album in 2017, Luke Combs has been making a name for himself in the country music scene. His latest album, “What You See Ain’t Always What You Get”, was released in October of 2020 and has already been a huge success. Combs is known for his heartfelt lyrics and catchy melodies, and “Forever After All” is no exception. This song is about a couple who has been through everything together and their love is stronger than ever. With its relatable lyrics and infectious beat, “Forever After All” is sure to be one of the best country songs of 2022.

Blake Shelton- “Minimum Wage”

Blake Shelton is an American country music singer and songwriter. In 2002, he made his debut with the single “Austin”. The lead-off single from his self-titled debut album, “Austin” spent five weeks at number one on the Billboard Country chart. The now Platinum-certified album also produced two more top 20 entries (“All Over Me” and “Ol’ Red”). Although the album was released on Giant Records Nashville, he was transferred to Warner Bros. Records Nashville after Giant closed in late 2001.

Jason Aldean- “Got What I Got”

Jason Aldean’s “Got What I Got” is a song about being content with what you have in life, even when it’s not much. The lyrics tell the story of a man who is down on his luck, but he’s still grateful for what he has.

The song was co-written by Aldean and his wife, Brittany, and it was inspired by their own life experiences. “We’ve both been through some tough times in our lives and we know what it’s like to not have much,” Aldean said. “But at the end of the day, we’ve always had each other and that’s all that really matters.”

“Got What I Got” is a catchy, upbeat track with a simple, but effective message. It’s one of Aldean’s best songs to date, and it will likely be remembered as one of the best country songs of 2022.

Miranda Lambert- “Settling Down”

Miranda Lambert’s “Settling Down” is one of the best country songs of 2022. The song is about a woman who is finally ready to settle down and find a good man to spend her life with. The best country music of 2022 will come from a variety of artists, but one that is sure to stand out is Maren Morris. Her song “The Bones” is a beautiful ballad that speaks to the heart of what it means to be human. It is a song about love, loss, and hope, and it will resonate with country music fans across the globe.

Florida Georgia Line- “Long Live”

After a few false starts, it seems that Florida Georgia Line are finally ready to release new music. The duo’s last album, Dig Your Roots, was released back in 2016, but they’ve been sporadically releasing new singles over the past few years. Last month, they teased a new song called “Long Live,” and now they’ve finally released it.

“Long Live” is a slow-burning ballad that finds Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley reflecting on their careers and how grateful they are for everything they’ve accomplished. “We fought our way up from the bottom / Now everybody knows our story / They can’t believe we made it this far,” they sing. “Here’s to the good times and the memories / We’re gonna make ’em last forever / Long live the nights we won’t remember / With the friends we won’t forget.”

It’s a sentimental track that will no doubt resonate with fans who have been with Florida Georgia Line since the beginning. And with any luck, it will also be the first taste of a new album from the duo.

Thomas Rhett- “Remember You Young”

“Remember You Young” is a song co-written and recorded by American country music artist Thomas Rhett. It was released to radio on February 3, 2020 as the lead single from his fourth studio album, Center Point Road (2019). The song was written by Rhett, his father Rhett Akins, Carrie Underwood, Jesse Frasure and Ashley Gorley.

“Remember You Young” is a rollicking mid-tempo with elements of pop music about living life to the fullest and not forgetting where you came from. The song’s lyrics look nostalgically at growing up too quickly. In an interview with iHeartRadio, Rhett said that he co-wrote the song with his dad, who is also a country music singer and songwriter, as well as Carrie Underwood, Jesse Frasure and Ashley Gorley. He told iHeartRadio that the four of them were in a writing room together just chatting about life and what was going on in their worlds when they started writing the song.

Dierks Bentley- “Gone”

Dierks Bentley released “Gone” as the lead single off his ninth studio album, The Mountain. The song was co-written by Bentley with Ross Copperman, Jon Randall, and Ashley Gorley.

“Gone” is a mid-tempo song about a man reflecting on a past relationship. The lyrics paint a picture of a couple that has grown apart and is struggling to find their way back to each other. The narrator is looking back on the good times they shared and wondering if they’ll ever be able to recapture that magic.

The song has a distinctly country feel, with steel guitar and banjo providing the backdrop for Bentley’s vocals. The production is minimalistic, allowing the focus to remain on the lyrics and performance.

“Gone” was well-received by critics, with many praising Bentley’s vocal performance and the song’s lyrical honesty. It debuted at number one on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, making it Bentley’s sixth number one single on that chart.
