Best Albums of 2018

We’re only a few months into 2018, but there has already been some great new electronic music released. Here are some of the best albums of the year so far.

Madeon – Good Faith

Madeon’s second album proves that he’s an anomaly in the best way possible.

Good Faith is an electronic album that will make you feel a range of emotions, from elation to heartbreak, and everything in between. Madeon has a knack for creating catchy melodies and infectious beats, which are paired with his emotionally charged lyrics to create a listening experience that is truly unique.

There are few albums that are able to evoke such a wide range of emotions, and even fewer that are able to do so in such an accessible way. Good Faith is a must-listen for any fan of electronic music, and is sure to be one of the best albums of 2018.

The Glitch Mob – See Without Eyes

The Glitch Mob’s fourth studio album, See Without Eyes, is a departure from the group’s previous releases in several ways. For one, it’s their first album in four years, and for another, it sees them move away from their signature sound of wonky, glitchy electronica in favor of a more straightforward and accessible style of dance music.

That’s not to say that See Without Eyes isn’t still a Glitch Mob album through and through. The production is as impeccable as ever, and the songwriting is top-notch, but there’s definitely a different feel to this record. It’s more upbeat and positive than anything they’ve done before, and while that might not be everyone’s cup of tea, it’s an admirable change of pace from a group that could have easily rested on their laurels.

If you’re a fan of The Glitch Mob, or just electronic music in general, See Without Eyes is definitely worth checking out. It might not be their best album yet, but it’s a strong showing from a group that continue to evolve and push the boundaries of their sound.

Odesza – A Moment Apart

This is the third studio album by American electronic music duo Odesza, released on September 8, 2017 by Counter Records and Ninja Tune. It peaked at number 3 on the Billboard 200 and sales of 467,000 album-equivalent units in the US in its first week. It was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards.
