Nirvana was a grunge band that formed in Aberdeen, Washington, in 1987. The band’s lineup consisted of vocalist and guitarist Kurt Cobain, bassist Krist Novoselic, and drummer Dave Grohl. Nirvana’s success popularized alternative rock and made grunge the mainstream genre of choice for young adults in the 1990s. “Smells Like Teen Spirit” is a song by American rock band Nirvana. It is the opening track and lead single from the band’s second album, Nevermind (1991), released on DGC Records. The sound of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” was inspired by the Pixies.

Alice in Chains- Would?

Alice in Chains is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1987 by guitarist and songwriter Jerry Cantrell and original lead vocalist Layne Staley. The initial lineup was rounded out by drummer Sean Kinney and bassist Mike Starr, who was replaced in 1993 by Mike Inez. Although widely associated with grunge music, the band’s sound incorporates heavy metal elements. Since its formation, Alice in Chains has released six studio albums, three EPs, two live albums, four compilations, and two box sets.

The band rose to international fame as part of the grunge movement of the early 1990s. With sufficient help from MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball program,[1] the debut album Facelift (1990) reached triple platinum status;[2] their second album, Dirt (1992), reached quadruple platinum,[3] making Alice in Chains one of the best-selling bands of the 1990s.[4][5][6] The band has had 14 top ten songs on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and nine Grammy Award nominations. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019 as part of their first year of eligibility.[7]

Black Hole Sun is a song by American rock band Soundgarden. Written by frontman Chris Cornell, the song was released as the third single from the band’s fourth studio album, Superunknown (1994), on May 27, 1994, through A&M Records. The song topped Billboard magazine’s Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, where it spent a record-breaking seven weeks at number one.

The music video was awarded nine MTV Video Music Awards, including Best Metal/Hard Rock Video. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song, but lost to “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from The Lion King. In 2005, Black Hole Sun was voted No.94 in Triple J’s Hottest 100 of All Time.

Pearl Jam is an American rock band that was formed in 1990 in Seattle, Washington. The band is composed of vocalist Eddie Vedder, guitarist Mike McCready, bassist Jeff Ament, and drummer Matt Cameron. Pearl Jam has sold over 85 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling bands of all time.

Their 1991 debut album, Ten, released on Epic Records, reached number two on the Billboard 200 album chart and became one of the best-selling debut albums of all time. Pearl Jam’s popularity lasted throughout the 1990s with their follow-up albums Vs. (1993) and Vitalogy (1994). After a hiatus during which the band members worked on side projects, Pearl Jam returned with their sixth studio album, Yield (1998). In 2000, they released Binaural, which was supported by tours that featured epic jams that focused on more extended improvisation.

Pearl Jam’s seventh album, Riot Act (2002), debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart and was their last album to be certified platinum by the RIAA. In 2009, they released Backspacer; it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart—their only album to do so—and became their fifth consecutive album to reach multi-platinum status. The band’s eighth studio album Lightning Bolt was released on October 15, 2013 and became their seventh consecutive studio album to reach number one in Canada.

Stone Temple Pilots- Interstate Love Song

Stone Temple Pilots was an American rock band from San Diego, California, that originally consisted of Scott Weiland (lead vocals), brothers Dean DeLeo (guitar) and Robert DeLeo (bass, backing vocals), and Eric Kretz (drums). The band’s first album, Core, released in 1992, became a commercial success and eventually shipped over eight million copies in the United States. The singles “Sex Type Thing”, “Creep”, and “Plush” all received heavy rotation on MTV and radio airplay.

STP’s second album, Purple, released on June 7, 1994, charted at number one on the Billboard 200 and debuted at number one on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. It is STP’s most commercially successful album to date, shipping over six million copies in the United States. The singles “Vaseline” and “Big Empty” Both received heavy airplay on rock radio stations across the country.

Temple of the Dog- Hunger Strike

Temple of the Dog was an American rock band that formed in Seattle, Washington in 1990. The band was created bySoundgarden lead singer Chris Cornell and Pearl Jam members Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament to honor the late Andrew Wood, frontman of the bands Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone. The group’s only album, Temple of the Dog, was released on April 16, 1991 through A&M Records. The album is considered a blueprint for the grunge music genre.

Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike”was released as a single on October 8, 1991. The song peaked at number four on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song also received significant airplay on modern rock radio stations

Mudhoney- Touch Me I’m Sick

Mudhoney is an American alternative rock band formed in Seattle, Washington in 1988. The band’s first album, Superfuzz Bigmuff, was released to critical acclaim in 1988. Although the band was not commercially successful, they were an important influence on the Seattle music scene and had a major impact on the development of grunge music.

The band’s second album, Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge, was released in 1991. The album was a commercial failure, but still received positive reviews from critics. In 1992, the band released their third album, Piece of Cake, which was another commercial failure. However, the album’s single, “Touch Me I’m Sick”, became a breakout hit and helped to establish the band’s popularity.

The band’s fourth album, My Brother the Cow, was released in 1995. The album was a critical and commercial success, and includes the singles “Into the Black” and “Out of My Head”.

The band has continued to tour and release albums over the past two decades. In 2006, they released their eighth studio album, Under a Billion Suns. In 2008, they released their ninth studio album entitled The Lucky Ones. Mudhoney continues to tour and perform to this day.

Grunge music was a genre of rock music that emerged during the mid-1980s in the Pacific Northwest U.S. state of Washington, particularly in the Seattle area. It was known for its DIY ethic, its heavy, distorted guitars, and its bleak or anguished lyrics. grunge fashion eschewed the expensive, colorful trends of the 1980s rock scene in favor of thrift store goods and black clothing.

Screaming Trees were an American rock band formed in Ellensburg, Washington in 1985 by vocalist Mark Lanegan, guitarist Gary Lee Conner, bass player Van Conner and drummer Mark Pickerel. Pickerel had played with Lanegan previously in a band called The Wheels. Active from 1985 to 2000, the group achieved commercial success with their 1991 album Uncle Anaesthesia. Although widely associated with grunge music, the band’s sound incorporated hard rock and psychedelic elements.

Bush’s “Glycerine” is one of the most popular grunge songs on YouTube. The song was released in November 1995 as the fourth single from the album Sixteen Stone. The song peaked at number one on the UK Singles Chart, becoming Bush’s only number-one single on that chart. “Glycerine” remains one of Bush’s most popular songs and is often considered one of the best grunge songs of all time.

Hole- Violet

Hole was an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1989 by singer and guitarist Courtney Love and lead guitarist Eric Erlandson. The band had a rotating line-up of bassists and drummers, their most prolific being drummer Patty Schemel, and bassists Kristen Pfaff (d. 1994) and Melissa Auf der Maur.

After forming in 1989 and signing to DGC Records, Hole released their debut album Pretty on the Inside in 1991 to mixed reviews, but despite its failure commercially, the album was well received critically. Their second album, Live Through This ( 1994), gave the band mainstream success; it was certified platinum by the RIAA within a week of its release and is Hole’s only album to receive that certification. The album was accompanied by the singles “Miss World” and “Doll Parts”, which became two of Hole’s most successful songs to date. In 1995, Hole contributed the song “Violet” to the benefit compilation album Sweet Relief II: Relief from Music Business Disease; a portion of the proceeds from that album went towards AIDS research.
