“Dynamite” by BTS

“Dynamite” is a song recorded by South Korean boy band BTS, composed by Jeon Yong-guk, Raymond “RD” choruses. The song was released on August 21, 2020, through Big Hit Entertainment and COLUMBIA Records. It is BTS’ first all-English single. “Dynamite” debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the band’s first number one on the chart and the first all-South Korean act to top the Hot 100. The song became the longest-charting Korean pop song in history.

“Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles

“Watermelon Sugar” is a song recorded by English singer Harry Styles for his second studio album, Fine Line (2019). It was released through Erskine and Columbia Records on 16 May 2020 as the lead single from the album. The song was written by Styles, Mitch Rowland, Tyler Johnson and its producers Kid Harpoon and Harry Styles. “Watermelon Sugar” is a soft rock and neo soul song with sensual lyrics.

The single received generally positive reviews from music critics, many of whom praised the song’s production and lyrics. Commercially, the single debuted at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming Styles’ first solo number one on the chart and his second overall following One Direction’s “Best Song Ever”. The song also peaked at number one in numerous other countries including Australia, Canada, Ireland, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and the United Kingdom.

“WAP” debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Cardi B her third US number-one single and Megan Thee Stallion her first. On the chart dated August 8, 2020, “WAP” received 8.1 million radio airplay audience impressions in the United States, which led to its debut atop the Radio Songs chart. With “WAP”, both Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion became the second female rappers to top the Radio Songs chart, following Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in 1998. In addition, Cardi B became the first artist to debut at number one on both the Hot 100 and Radio Songs charts simultaneously with two solo songs. “WAP” is also Cardi B’s fastest Hot 100 entry from zero to number one, and Megan Thee Stallion’s second after “Savage” (remix) in July 2020. Moreover, it garnered 8.4 million US streams and 300,000 downloaded in a week ending August 13 according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

“Mood” by 24kGoldn featuring iann dior remains at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the week of August 8, 2020. The song, which was released on July 24, 2020, debuted at number two on the chart and has remained in the top spot for three consecutive weeks. “Mood” is 24kGoldn’s first number one song on the Hot 100 and iann dior’s second, following “Sicko Mode” by Travis Scott.

Week of August 15, 2020

“Dynamite” by BTS

On the chart dated August 15, 2020, “Dynamite” by BTS debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the group’s first number-one single in the United States. The song is written in the key of C♯ major with a tempo of 100 beats per minute.

“I Can’t Stop Me” by TWICE

“I Can’t Stop Me” is a song by South Korean girl group Twice. The song was released on October 26, 2020, and is the lead single from the group’s third Korean-language studio album Eyes wide open. It debuted at number one on the Gaon Digital Chart for the week of November 1, 2020.

The song is an uptempo synth-pop track with elements of nu-disco, dance-pop and electropop. The lyrics are about being addicted to someone and not being able to control oneself.

The song debuted at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and has since peaked at number two, making it both artists’ first top-10 entry in the country. In the UK, “Mood” debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart, becoming both artists’ first number-one single in the country.

“Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)” by Jawsh 685 x Jason Derulo

This song is a half-hearted attempt at reggaeton that’s been lazily smoothed over with Auto-Tune. It’s one of those cases where the singer seems to be trying to sound like he’s not singing in English, which is always a bit of a turn-off.
