The annual Blues Music Awards, which are presented by the Blues Foundation, were announced today. This year’s event will take place on May 10, 2018, in Memphis, Tennessee. A list of nominees in various categories is below.

Best Album

The nominees for the 2018 Blues Music Awards were announced on Wednesday, January 10. The awards ceremony, which is put on by the Blues Foundation, will be held in Memphis, Tennessee on May 10.

This year’s nominees for Best Album are:
-Robert Cray & Hi Rhythm – Robert Cray & Hi Rhythm
-Guy Davis – Kokomo Kidd
-John Németh – Feelin’ Freaky
-Lurrie Bell – Can’t Shake This Feeling
-Southern Avenue – Southern Avenue

Best Album nominees are selected by a panel of blues professionals from albums released in 2017.

Best Male Artist

The Best Male Artist award is given to the blues artist who has released the best album of the year. The nominees for this award are:

-Buddy Guy
-Keb’ Mo’
-John Mayer
-Gary Clark Jr.

Best Female Artist

This award recognizes a female vocalist who has released the best recording of the year.

Best Females Artist contenders are:

Best Band
