WCRB 102.5 FM

If you’re looking for the best classical music radio station in Boston, look no further than WCRB 102.5 FM. WCRB has been broadcasting classical music 24/7 since 1957, and is the flagship station of the WGBH Radio network. WCRB is also home to the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and features live broadcasts of BSO concerts, as well as interviews with musicians and conductors.

Programming

WCRB’s programming is principally classical music. It is the flagship station of the WCRB 99.5/102.5 simulcast, which reaches MetroWest, theRoute 128 corridor west of Boston and southern New Hampshire. The simulcast is heard on full-power FM via translator W262BP (99.5 mHz) in downtown Boston, and three low-power FMs: WSBK-LP 102.1 in South Boston; WXRV-LP 102.3 in Andover; and WJYY-LP 105.5 in Concord, New Hampshire

Anali Hernandez
Anali Hernandez is a producer and host for WGBH Radio. She joined the staff in 2000 after working at WBUR and MacArthur Foundation-supported public radio station KCRW in Santa Monica, California. Hernandez has won broadcasting’s highest honor, the George Foster Peabody Award, as part of a team for innovation in radio documentary for Crossing East (2006), a 14-part series on Asian American history. She was also part of a team that won the DuPont-Columbia Award for Crossing East and an Imagen Award (the nation’s premier Latino media award) for De Novato a Novato (2002), an 8-part series that looked at the post 9/11 world through the eyes of young Latino immigrants in Greater Boston. Hernandez earned her bachelor’s degree from UCLA and her master’s degree from Emerson College.

Brian O’Donovan
Brian O’Donovan has been hosting and producing Celtic Sojourn since 1998. The program features live music performances, interviews with recording artists, and features on Irish and Celtic culture, art, dance, theatre, storytelling, and history — all woven together by O’Donovan’s exuberant and engaging style. Celtic Sojourn is heard weekly on over 90 public radio stations across America, as well as Armed Forces Radio Network Europe, American Forces Network Japan/Okinawa, American Forces Network Africa, Voice of America global network, SiriusXM Satellite Radio (Public Radio) channel 132 (Thursdays only), and live-streamed worldwide on wgbh.org. O’Donovan is also the artistic director of two major annual Celtic music events presented by WGBH: A St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at Symphony Hall featuring carefully curated ensembles of top traditional musicians from around Ireland and America; and Summerfest at Fenway Park featuring headlining acts such as The Pixies, Elvis Costello & The Imposters”, Preservation Hall Jazz Band with Del McCoury Band

WCRB features a full-time schedule of classical music, and is home to nationally syndicated shows including Classical 24 with Alison Young and Harmonia with Angela Hewitt.

The station’s weekday schedule features local hosts David Perry, Brian McCreath, and Cathy Fuller, as well as nationally syndicated shows including Performance Today and Exploring Music.
